I beleive the banks are asking for your coins to be gradually spent soon as there issuing new ones ?

Don't know about that - would imagine they will be printing alot more money rather than coining it!

If you want to cash in your penny jar don't bother with the banks as theya re not intrested - 7-11 or Family Mart will gladly change it for you.

Maybe its a drive by the treasury to recalculate all the change that people have been building up, without minting more.

I once brought 11, 000 baht of coins into a 7-11 and it was no problem!
