stirr fried vegetables with tofu, no rice.

between the meals, if you feel peckich, salads, somtam and fruits - you can't overeat on them.

avoid meat, especially fried, as it has a lot of fat.

I reccomend the wide or fried noodles with pork in the thick gooey clear gravy stuff..sorry i cant help with the name, but you will be able to add as much chilli as you like. Its sweet but spicy too.

I find any noodles in clear soup great, its actually very nice and fills you up because the soup is based partly from animal stock but still reasonably healthy as the excess fat should have been omitted..

Ive heard if you add lots of chilli to the diet it slows general metabolism and stimulates endorphins in the brain, therefor providing a subtle high...bonus!!

Incidentally , if the average Thai had had good wholesome food growing up , he would be 6 feet tall and weigh 180 lbs , why do you think so many villagers get sick and so many pass on early ? Food CONTENT in Thailand is the pits . :o

thai and asians are shorter and lighter because of the genetics, throught tens of generations they were eating low calory diet.

untill the middle of the last century food in thailand was pretty good quality and mostly organic. White rice, processed foods, chemicals in agriculture was introduced only recently, within 1-2 generations.

palm oil is still better than animal fat, coconaut milk is healtier than cream from cow's milk. The problem with the street wendors (same as in the west) that they don't change oil often enough untill it burns dark brown. Instead of frying, better is to stirr fry, so very little oil is used and this oil is not used again.

Now thats the biggest load of claptrap i have ever heard.

1/ the thai population is much taller now

2/ villagers die early because they cannot afford decent health care

3/ thai food is very healthy for you except maybe too much rice and not enough excersise, but many villagers work very hard to earn a living and very strong too.

are you basing all this on villagers or the average thai person.

Many of my thai friends and and my gf family are big strong people so where do you base this from.

Patklang , you appear to be too embedded to think logically , low quality food is the main harbinger of stunted gowth not genetics , also the main contributing factor to many illnesses and deseases , poor quality water runs a very close second . That is why city dwellers in Thailand tend to be healthier than thier village counterparts , read some recent reports by Farang of health conditions and sickness in thier families home village , it will bring tears to your eyes .

Yes I do care . :o

If you can stomach it, an egg-white omlette is the way to go - lots of protein, no carbs and little fat.

Look at it this way; a bowl of cereal is 300 calories and you'll feel hungry a few hours later; 300 calories is a lot of egg whites (check online) and your hunger will be saited for hours.

On the downside, it's incredibly wasteful to throw away egg-yolks simply because they have all the fat and cholesterol.

Psyllium Husk - a cup of flavored phyllium husk in the morning should control your apetite.

The only food I can classify as perhaps 'healthy' in the Thai cuisine is a good bowl of fish porridge.

I also love Thai food.

But you seem to eat out a lot, like a lot of people (see bold:

I've often had an issue who how much sodium, MSG, bad cooking oils, and fat were in my food.

It sounds like you don't cook at home, but that's an option.
