Khon Kaen Bike 'week' Disapointment !

After reading some hype about this, I took myself and a few friends to the spectacular that is the Khon Kaen Bike Week.

Firstly.. it's not a 'week'.. it's two days..

Secondly.. it's not even two days.. !

We turned up at 15.30 today (Friday) to see 4 or 5 big bikes, and tables and chairs to sit a few hundred... but no one sitting.

We expected to see..

Fri 20th 10.00am Opening

Various games, displays of BMX Extreme and Motocross plus Super monster surround sound car and audio show during the day. Day ends at 6.30pm

Rubbish !

There was a stand from Yamaha with some rather nice big bikes, plus a couple of girls trying to sell T-Shirts.

Also seen were the organisers ? eating and generally keeping out of the way in the shade, and not really wanting to participate by the looks. I feel very sorry for the guy who turned up from BK (registered TR, not confirmed) on his 250cc to find no one there !

Look, I commend people for organising this kind of event, and the work that goes into it. BUT call it what it is (A day of riding with a pissup at the end), and not a week (which it clearly isn't). And if someone publishes a timetable, or order of events.. make sure it is true.!!

A very disapointed

P.S A very happy Mrs Totster, cos she loved the shopping !

P.P.S I sincerely hope the Saturday part of the bike 'week' goes well, have a good time everyone !

Sorry for your disapointment.

As far as the Bike WEEK title goes, all these similar events have the same misleading title.  It is never a week, usually one day as was Vol 1 here last year.  Typically people arrive during the day, including the stallholders, and its set up for a big party in the evening when its not so hot. Sometimes accompanied by a ride the day before or after.

This year the Tourist authority asked the committee to make it 2 days Fri and Sat,   I have helped in organising this year and we did have a program of events for Friday and Sat, with all the main activities on Sat finishing with a big party Sat night.

I too am embarressed that little apart from setting up was happening Friday, but we did have a busy day, the organisers were in various places, recieving stallholders, showiing people to hotels, meeting the Yamaha rider team from BKK and meeting up with Harley mangagement from BKK in a different place. Incidently those here seem to have had  a great night out in KK,

Now Saturday morning all is ready for a great day and night, starting with an escorted ride out at 10.00 today.

Next year I will make sure all published information represents what will actually happen. (as best as I can  TIT)

Sorry for the poor impression you got

I hope you are still around and enjoy today.

BTW  next year it will still be called Khon Kaen Bike Week.  John G

We had a party of 14 hit the FC thursday night and again friday morning from the Mai Pen Rai club, although as it comes just a week after Pattaya bike week this year, maybe a lot of them are too knackered to make the trip North.

Eivind from the Oasis had a good Pattaya bike month, he was back in Surin for about twelve hours before heading to Khon Kaen. We expect him back around May.
