Renting In Bangkok

I was having a bit of a chat in the pub last night with a neighbour who was talking about rental values of houses,flats (UK dont have condos :D )maisonettes (guess?)

He was thinking of letting out his place which is worth about £250K and expects to get roughly £1000 rent a month

Obviously there are regional variations etc,types of accomodation..eg 6 bed room pig stys (for students and/or as many as they can fit in :D ) etc.

Carrying on from there I would beg to ask the question as to what if one used a similar comparison would be a reasonable same-same say in Bangkok.

ie.At £250k-rent =£1k or 1/250th of the capital costs of the unit....so

in Bangers...

If the gaff is worth say ....

Bt.25.M then on the same basis the rent would be = Bt 100,000/month

Bt.12.5M........................................rent would be = Bt 50,000/month

Bt.6.25M............................................................. = Bt 25,000/month

Bt.3.125M........................................................... = Bt 10,000/month

Bt.1.562M............................................................= Bt 5 K a month

So using above for a rent of say Bt.15k a month you should be able to rent a nice wee Bt 5 million condo on Suk rd............................or :o

are we being ripped off in the smoke :D

your example of uk yield is running at 4.8%.

generally rents are determined by market forces but also follow mortgage rates &

long term bond yields too.

using your example of thai condo worth 5m then 4.8% yield should bring in 20k pm not the number u suggested.

:o:D:D
