Letter From Bank Verifying 60 Day Deposit Questions.

Featured Replies

Can you go to any branch or must be opening account branch?

Maybe it depends on bank? i have scb.

Also do they normally do it on the spot or takes a day or two?

It is better to go to the branch where the account is held and where they know you.

IME the letter may take a day or two as it has to be signed by the Manager,

but this will vary from bank to bank and day to day.

If you are lucky you may have the letter within minutes.

I went to my local Bangkok Bank branch, where the money had been transferred to, at 10 a.m., and was told to come back at 4pm, after the bank had shut (?)

I did so, knocked on the door, and was let in by security, and got the letter OK, stating that

a) the money had been transferred from abroad,

:D the date of the transfer, and

c) the amount on the day in question was over 800,000 Baht.

The Bank said they had to wait until close of business to verify the total amount in the account was correct.

Went to Bangkok immigration next day, (before new rules on which office to go to came into play), and had no problems. Apart from 5 hour wait. :o

Hope this helps.

I have seen reports that SCB will only do the letter at the branch where the account was opended. Also that they do it while you wait.

Yep. They do mine while I wait. 200 Baht.

Kasikorn Bank. I stayed at home and the wife sorted it. Free.

Ditto for me.

10 minute wait and 200THB.

Just make sure you get the letter no more than 48 hours before you go to Immigration or they may not accept it. Be sure to update your passbook as well. If you don't have any current activity that day just withdraw some money so it will show a current transaction up until the day you get the letter from the bank.

Just picked up my 1 year extension Visa today. Piece of cake ;-)

Got back from SCB and they did it same day as long as 200baht is paid.

However, one should be careful when they thread posters state 60 day money in bank because this is not entirely correct.

I deposited money 28th of December which wold mean 60 days later would be 26th of February.

I showed up at the Suan plu immigration to get my visa extended and they did not accept my applicatin because they said it hasnt been 2 month.

I said today is the 60th day, and they said "sorry, if you deposited on the 28th of December than 2 month would be February 28th, which is a Saturday and were not open so come back on Monday 2nd of march."

2nd of March would mean 64 days. So be aware that 2 month does not equal 60 days.

I thought I just happen to have a difficult officer however he was very helpful and tried to let it slide but he said when he turns in the paperwork it will not be approved by the head of administration for review during the 30day stamp.

Maybe its just me maybe not...just giving you heads up as I had to drag my 2 month old baby and wife just t be rejected and told to come back 2 days later when its been 2 month....

Yes. We had all this before with the 90 day rule. Days are days, months are months.

money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.
