Thailand Based Web Hosts

Featured Replies

I am setting up a new website which is the first for me attracting an audience solely in Thailand.

As such I want a Thai based host to maximise speeds within the country.

I have very limited experience with Thai hosts so am looking for any advice or recommendations people have from previous experiences.

My requirements:

Reliable uptime

Good customer service (If this is possible!)

Preferably Linux

PHP

Many MySQL databases (10+ with room for expansion)

20+ Email accounts with pop and webmail

Support for multiple domains

Support for SSL

Storage unlikely to rise over 2Gb including databases

Bandwidth - needs to be able to handle busy traffic

A company with good dedicated servers as well would be useful to allow an easy upgrade path in the future.

Since you will likely be renting from an ISP the reliability is as reliable as the ISP- i.e. best of luck.

I would strongly recommend you change your mind and rent from Singapore or Malaysia.

Yup- as Oxford Will says, most of the hosting companies that you will talk to here actually have servers in the various ISP datacenters, so you will be at their mercy. All of the experiences that I have had with Thai hosting companies have been a world-class pain in the a$$! Save yourself the aggrivation!

Why not host it yourself? Otherwise 3iX.org is pretty good.

3iX resells servers in the US ... theirs servers are in the US. Not of much use to the OP.

The reason I am looking for hosting based in Thailand is to avoid being affected by the shortage of international bandwidth.

Thai ISP's provide speeds close to those advertised for national connections but these speeds drop considerably once the request goes overseas.

Looked at 3iX before posting and found many unhappy reviews recently, seems that they are less reliable than they used to be and major issues with support. Also as Sniffdog mentioned the servers are abroad, losing the local connection advantage.

Could host myself but thats means redundant power supplies, backup lines and (probably) more headache than paying someone to do it for me.

Plan for the future certainly but too much on my plate right now.

Anyone have any experience of IC-Host?

http://www.ic-myhost.com/en/

The linux packages look pretty reasonable, just waiting for the answer to a few questions which is dual purpose as a customer support test.

Located inside CAT's data centre is ideal for my needs location-wise, assuming they can provide the service.

I use a company located here in Bangkok called NineWeb www.nineweb.co.th

I have hosted many sites with them and never had any issues of downtime or errors. Their Customer Service and support has always been first rate.

Good first impressions from IC-Host, email response in less than 2 hours, good English and informative answers to my questions.

Shame everything on google about them is all in Thai, prefer first hand experience.

Thanks for the recommendation Martin, have just contacted them with some questions.

I have a few from a customer perspective if you dont mind.

How have domestic speeds seemed with them?

They have 1.5Gbps domestic capacity compared with 10Gbps at the provider I mentioned above.

Ever suffered from long waiting times?

Do you use PHP/MySQL on any of your websites?

If so does it perform responsively?

Any sign of too many accounts on a single server?
