After having read about all the different visa types - I think I need to get a non-immigrant O multi-entry one year Visa (I find all of this visa info so confusing)

I'm American, but have a work permit in Hong Kong & residency there. Currently I'm spending most of my time in Thailand & have an apartment here. I travel all over Asia for business on a regular basis. Up until now I've left frequently enough that the 30 day passport stamp has been fine.

BUT, is there a limit to how many 30 day stamps you can get in a year? This is why I'd like to have the multi-entry visa.

I understand there are many agencies that will take you across the border & help you acquire such a visa. Is this my best option? And which country is the best one to go to?

I'd appreciate some advise on agencies that are reliable & honest. I'm concerned about just picking one off the interent without a recommendation.

Also, my wife is living here with me. Is it best for her to wait & get a visa when she returns to the US in April? From my reading it sounds like these are easier to get in your home country.

Thanks for any help,

The 90 day in 6 months limit has gone replaced by 15days at land borders and 30 days via air.

You are not going to get any help in HK as I approached them for visa information and they quoted rules which went out years ago but they would not back down (just plain stupid and ignorant).

If you fly to Oz, read up on visa availability and email the various consulates. They will tell you what they need to see. Usually something like photocopy(signed) of a Thai ID card and your desire to see them.

I don't read if your wife is Thai but if she is then you can just show income over 40k a month in your name for a 1 year extension to a visa. You can, if she is Thai, just go to KL or Singapore etc. and get a non imm visa on the basis of yuor marriage. Then you go to immigration and get it changed into an annual extension based on marriage. Remember to get a multiple re-entry permit.

First of all you need to qualify for the O visa and be able to produce supporting documentation. The agencies can not help you if you do not qualify for the visa you are applying.

What they do is they will tell you what documents are needed and once you have provided the doc's they fill in the application from for you (one A4 page with your passport and address details).

Not worth the money IMHO. Only if you are short of time and prefer to hire someone to take care of it while you are busy working or doing something else.

If your wife is not Thai, then i see non O being difficult to get. Reports say though that some embassies issue them for "visiting friends"...

It does not appear you qualify for a non-o visa from any ot the nearby consualtes.

I think your best bet is a B visa. If you are working in Hong Kong and your company has customers or other reasons for you to travel here. See this page from the consulate in Hong Kong.

http://www.thai-consulate.org.hk/ENG/ThaiC...RANT%20VISA.htm

If you can get a multiple entry it is possible that your wife could get a non-o to accompany you on your bussiness trips.
