I have a 3 year old daughter who stays with me here as tourist visa. I just want to know if its true that children who are young, if overstayed, do i have to pay fines? Will she be deported?

I know of some kids who are overstayed here for years now.. But just want to make sure before things messed up. And if ever my daughters overstayed, is there a possibility i lose my job?

Thanks...

Non Thai children under 15 (or maybe 14) do not need to pay overstay fine & there is no issue exiting the country with overstay on their passport. It will have no effect on your work permit or job.

Thanks, I am relieved now.. One of the teachers in our school mentioned that my daughter will be deported and because i am the mom, i am going to lose the job.. something like that.. So, I am worried..

This has really been a worst night for me just because of this..

Thanks! I guess i can sleep now

I moved your topic to this forum.

If you are working here and on an extension of stay your daughter can also get an extension as your dependent. It would be much better than dealing with immigration at the airport when you leave and there would never be any question about her status here.

This would be the best solution if you are on a 12 month extension yourself.

No your daughter is not going to be fined or deported.

Thanks for the informations..

I am on a 12 months extension. I have 5 more months left before my contract ends and i think I will be able to renew my contract. My daughter and I went to Laos for an exit at first but knowing that its only 15 days, I cant, its too much for me to travel twice a month and specially the new rules that I have to get a re-entry permit in Nan. So, I just thought of waiting the papers for student visa. Letter from school, etc.. And since its the end of school year, we have to give final test. So, I thought if we go to Laos, I would be missing classes. Knowing from my sister that overstay children dont pay fines or get in trouble.. I just thought of waiting and leave after school.

But then this issue came up that I might get lose my job.. So, I wanted to make sure or I have to leave and go to Laos as soon as possible before everythings messed up.

Thanks for information...

She does not have to leave the country to get the extension. Just a trip to immigration with her birth certificate. It will cost 1900 baht.

I just want to mention this:

maybe it can be useful for some people:....

If you ever have problems with overstay....

don't forget that it's very expensive indeed...(fine 500 baht a day)

but the maximum fine is 20000 baht...

no matter how long you overstayed!

so...maybe its cheaper to just let her overstay!

(I am not sure that if you overstay 1 year or more...maybe can get deported or very high fine)

but for a few months it'll be ok....

do the calculation guys!

There is no overstay fine for children, but the best way is always the legal way. Which has been shown by Ubonjoe and Lite Beer.

Thank you for all the informations. Though, I still feel alittle worried about it. I have talked with it with our foreign boss which his main concern coz he is worried I might get problem with it..

But of course, I am still going to take care of her visa during vacations.

Thank you really, I feel better now.
