Nasty Riot In Nakhon Sri Thammarat

Featured Replies

From the sounds of it, the unrest had nothing to do with the OP's first assumption regarding the current economic climate, industrial unrest or any other such thing but rather a Tessaban closing an old market to make way for a new one, despite Court orders to not do so.

I will just give a brief run down on the Thai Rath article.

The Tessabahn had told the people at the market that they have to move to a new location and they (marketers) disagreed. The government sent 300 people to demolish the area and were met with resistance by 100 market workers. The demonstrators began throwing rocks, wood, iron bars at the government workers and they backed off. Then a fight began and one person was stabbed and sent to a hospital, several other injuries. One person, an official from the Health Department (why he was there is not clear) and he had an arm and a leg broken. The courts had issued an order to delay the demolition but was ignored by the Tessabahn official.

So, guess you might say there was some violence taken place. :o

Thanks!

My partner's take on it was slightly different (he said scuffle/fight) but that it wasn't a big deal. I pretty much stopped reading when it became clear that it had nothing to do with the OP's assertions of what the event was and why. It still makes my brain ache to work my way through articles like this. I use a dictionary when needed and don't use translator programs other than on a one or two word nuance kind of issue as they confuse me :D

So ... Mea Culpa Mea Culpa! (It was more violent than I thought!)

I LIKE CATS.

My cat's breath smells like cat food.

Well it most likely would I guess. You didn't by any chance feed it any cat food did you?

What a nut. :o

This thread has been quite entertaining though, bit like a provincial duff up in itself. :D
