Samuian
Can assure everyone that an encounter is highly unlikely, unless someone does a lot of garden work, longs unprotected into crevasses, gaps etc. where one can't look into, always make sure to not just pick up a piece of wood, or stone slab without looking UNDER it, FIRST! Bedsheets, Blankets, Clothing kept outdoors, ALWAYS CHECK BEFORE bringing them back into the house! Same, same with other creepy crawlies and snakes and stuff, just use common sense and one should be fine! Live hee for many years, once bitten by a small (2") Takrap.... was already pretty painful, so watch out and take care, but NO reason to be paranoid about it and kill everything! GarryP
Pig farmers are particularly wary of centipedes. It is claimed that pigs have a severe reaction when bitten and ultimately die, whereas we humans only suffer from severe pain. Pig farmers are known to hire kids to hunt for the beasties near the pigsties and kill them, all in an attempt to protect their pigs.
