Thai- Laos Railway Opens

Featured Replies

Breaking news story in Bangkok Post, the Thai - Laos railway link was opened this morning. - (5 March 2009)

Considering that the railway station in Laos is in 'no man's land', would it be worth travelling there by train? How much (asking the Laos exp(a)(er)ts) would one have to fork out for a taxi from the station to downtown Vientiane?

Great news...... will be taking the train on my next 90 day visa run. I'm sure they'll be plenty of samlors/tuk-tuks to take you to Vientiane, just like at every other Lao border point.

anyone know how much for a seat/bed and how long does the journey take?

Do they have 1st car sleeper cabin for the 3.5km. Not sure if the journey time is long enough for my gf and I to enjoy the trip to heaven, I mean Laos.
