JerryO
I took the wife to the Sugar Hut restaurant off Theppraya road last night. What a lovely setting but the most ordinary Thai food, absurdly high prices, all in un-air-conditioned "comfort". save your baht. the staff were pleasant but overall not enjoyable. Anyone have a suggestion for a similar tropical ambiance in pattaya, but at fair prices? 1,300 baht per person seems high to me.

Khun John's Mabprachan lake Lakeside veiws very good thai food very reasonable prices very good falang food but can be a long time coming as takes longer to cook only bad point is 14km from central Pattaya but well worth the visit just round the corner from me so I eat there a lot :jerk:
Jingthing
Sugar Hut? What else would you expect from a tourist trap, anywhere in the world? They fill a need, a need sophisticated people don't have.
LennyW
Shame to hear that, the Sugar Hut used to be first class food and service at a very reasonable price, the times they are a changin i suppose! Shame.
syd barrett
I'm not sophistocated (who would admit to being so?) but I always found the Sugar Hut to be disappointing. Luckily on both occassions, my hosts payed the bill.

Go for real Thai, much better food. PS, I heard the Joke (The Aristocrats) in it's original form. Almost died laughing, it hurt so much.
Jingthing
Go for real Thai, much better food. Probably most regular tourists don't even want REAL Thai food. I don't blame places like the Sugar Trap for milking that puppy. At least they keep it segregated off the main road.

Humphrey Bear
Shame to hear that, the Sugar Hut used to be first class food and service at a very reasonable price, the times they are a changin i suppose! Shame. Fully agree with you. Six or seven years ago I used to entertain there frequently. Took the family in February this year and was very disappointed. I would not class this place as a tourist trap. They are after a certain market, which is the immediate locale (Norwegian Village) and other well-off regular visitors. Not ripping off the one-time visitors. Who now owns / manages the place?
highchol
I always used to enjoy the sugar hut but have not been for a couple of years. It used to be owned by the PIH / PIC group. The menu at PIC kitchen and sugar hut used to be the same.
