I would like to get a Non-immigrant O visa abroad, with the intent of changing to retirement visa upon arrival in Thailand.

This would allow by topped up my Thai bank account to have the required amount of income, for the required time limit 2-3months, but is there a way to get the Non-immigrant O visa abroad without buying a ticket showing a return departure?

ie once arriving in Thailand from the US, I dont wish to purchase or use the return ticket.

Is the visa called a "retirement extention" even if its the first time applied?

If us get a non-immigrant O visa abroad you will need to ask the embassy or consulate you are using to tell you their specific requirements for travel proof.

I am assuming you are NOT applying for an O-A visa in the US.

When you get to Thailand with your non-immigrant O, you will be applying for an annual extension based on retirement. You will not be converting to a retirement visa. Your visa will be the visa you got in the US.

I didnt realize I could get an "O" visa or "Non-immigrant O" from within Thailand.

From reading your other posts I see this is possible, can you point me to a link with more info?

Many thanks ;-)
