Japan is starting to tank and Korea will follow soon, 2 classic export based economies. Both are heavily invested in Thailand so after the dominos start falling; I'd say we could see 45-50 Baht to the dollar!

Just as a wild guess....as of 25 December 2009

55 baht for a pound

38 baht for a U.S. Dollar

and the cost of livng in Thailand rising about 15% by Demeber 25, 2009.

Not going to be good year for the average Thai.

Plants closing, jobs cut, and consumer prices rising (with a concurrent reduction in consumer spending).

And a slow rate of toutist arrivals (but Thailand will still be a tourist vacation destination). What tourists do arrive will spend less.

Ecobony....gradually improving by the end of 2009, but we won't see a real pick-up until 2010 at least.

Thai tourist "high season" in 2009 will be better, but still slow.

:D

Oh thank god, does that mean less boiler room operations and fewer time share sellers?

And here we go 1 GBP = 1 USD = 40 THB.

1 EUR = 45 THB

Hope somebody remembers to come back and check the predictions...

But don't forget that Europe is very export based and that the economic in the USA looks terrible bad.

So if every currency is falling it depends on which is falling faster and which slower....

I believe that the Baht will weaken further against the $US and the £ will regain some of it's losses against the $US.

$US.... 40 Baht

£ ......$1.65

£ ...... 66 Baht

I think there maybe a good chance of this... let's see what QE does but I do see the GBP/Baht ratio easing and climbing to mid-50s and further later - 66 would be nirvana!
