Hallo all, finaly we ar in Thailand,on O-A multiple entry visa arrived on the 22/08/2008.Visa issued by Thai consulat in Antwerp Belgiumon 09/07/2008.

Still some questions left !

We report every 3 months to emmigration at NAN.No problems at all,but the final expire date on the visa is 09/07/2009.Do we have to leave Thailand before 07/09/2009 OR entering again in Thailand on that date ??????

The emmigration in NAN ar very, very polite ,kind and trying to help, but the lack of our nollige of Thai and from them of English makes things a little confiusing.

To make te story complete ,my wife is Belgian 58 and I am Dutchman 64.

You have to Re Enter Thailand before 7.09.2009 to get another 12 months.

BTW. Your Wife did not need to get a VISA. She can stay here with 12 monthly extensions from Immigration as your dependant.

May I make a follow up qustion?

Can you stay 12 months in Thailand on a O-A multiple entry visa without doing a visa run every 3 months?

Yes, with a O-A visa you get permission to stay for 1 year! With a multiple you can just leave the country and come back again before the visa expires to get another year of permission to stay.

You do have to report you addrress every 90 days, but that can be done by mail at most immigraiton offices.

Yes all you need to do is a 90 day report to your local imm.

That is great news. Any special requirements to obtain the O-A Visa or just submit an application at the nearest embassy?

You can only apply for this visa in your home countr or country of residence.

You will need to show 800,000 in the bank (no need for Thai bank) or an income of 65,000 a month. Often a health check and police clearence are also required. That is why most people choose to go for an non-O based on retirement.

You apply at the Thai Embassy in your own country. This is the requirements at the London Embassy. They should all be the same. http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/visa_retirement.html

Thanks Mario,

There is just always a catch, aren't there?

Bank, police and health are doable, but applying from my home country is a bit annoying. On top of that, I can picture a situation where they will just need one more stamp to certify the documents. The needles eye is just a bit too small.

If you meet the requirements you can just get a non-O based on retirement from a neighbouring country and then in Thailand apply for a 1 year extension at immigration.
