Hi,

I'm moving to a side street of a side street of a small town in Phrae and now am a bit concerned how to transcribe my coming address as to maximize the chance that mails from overseas will reach me.

I understand that much that I can see that first line is just standard directions rather than names, but how are addresses like the one below usually written? - Transcription as well as standard abbreviations if such exist would be appreciated.

The first words before the "nn" say house number (bân lêk thî). The second grouping is your neighborhood number (mù thî). Then it's the name of your village (bân don mun). Then your sub-district (tam-bon)-abbreviated by the ต here, followed by district name (Huay O). Next is your district (am-phoe). That's where your address here stops but you are going to want to write the Province, the postal code, and Thailand after this. I used the Thai Royal Institute transliteration scheme above. I would write an address like this:

### M. #

B. Don Mun, T. Huay-O

A. Long (you don't have the Ampur/amphoe listed but I'm assuming "Long/ลอง" is it)

Phrae ##### (your postal code, important and not in the address pasted in your post)

Thailand

Well, if I understand your question correctly...I would get people to write the following (I've included arbitrary numbers):

58/4, Mu 2, Ban Don Mun, Tambon Huay Or, Amphur XXXXX, Changwat XXXXX, THAILAND

The xxxxxs represent the district and province names.
