What was special about Hitler and the Nazi led genocidal holocaust? There are hundreds of books on the topic.

-- it was executed using the tools of industrialization, trains, gas chambers, poison gas, mass cremations

-- people had thought "modern" "European" people were beyond this kind of evil, when in fact the modern industrial tools made it easier to carry them out

-- everyday normal "good" people were propagandized to believe in the absurd justifications for the holocaust (if modern Germans could do that, it could happen again in any modern society as they were people just like us)

-- how can we ever forget "the showers of death"?

It is an interesting question. What happened in Cambodia, later, and what happened in Rwanda , later, and the various massacres throughout history are of course horrific and the victims were no less murdered.

However, some of the examples given as equivalents I do not accept. It is a historical fact that the atomic bombings of Japan saved many allied and Japanese lives; it has been asserted more lives saved than killed, but I don't know how we could ever know that. Of course, Americans valued American lives more than Japanese lives, they were at WAR. Japan was not going to surrender. However, dropping the second bomb was questionable. In any case, it was a radical tactical move in a time of extreme war, not an organized genocide. As soon as the surrender happened, the Americans were there to help administer a new Japan for the surviving Japanese people.

Well, its Red Shirt D Day. They promised 200,000 - 300,000 protesters were going to descend on government house. Reports right now put the number at 10,000-15,000. I assume that number will swell a tiny bit after work, and then by midnight, most will go home, as the organizers only paid them for one day's service.

Meanwhile, Thaksin is requesting to "Testify" on video regarding the government seizure of this 76 billion. The entire "red shirt" protest boiled down to a simple 11 digit number. Thaksin doesn't care about you Koo. He doesn't care about me, he doesn't care about anyone, not even his own family (as demonstrated by the absence at his sister's funeral).

The only thing he cares about is MONEY. Why in the world are poor people protesting for the rights of a fugitive billionaire the money that he stole in the first place (by manipulating government regulations to favor his own company).

Why don't you study a little history. The Nazi's arrested millions of innocent people for their religion and sexual orientation and tortured and killed them. The U.S. arrested a few combatants and suspected mass killers to stop them from killing more innocent people. That may be screwed up, but are you really going to compare the two things?

On top of that, the Nazis attempted genocide and beat, starved and killed millions of people who were pacifists and did not even fight back. The only thing the U.S. is trying to get rid of is a few murderers.

On top of that, I'm not the one who has openly praised Hitler. You are.

You kindly forgot the genocide of a few millions Indians... blah, blah blah

Grow up. Almost any country on earth has committed great atrocities if you go back far enough in history. England used to strap live human beings to exploding cannons and gave the American Indians diseased blankets- genocide on purpose - Australia and the Aborigines - and even the Dutch were ruthless, but no MODERN nation has come close to the evil of Nazi Germany and trying to compare killing mostly combatants in Vietnam or Iraq to what the Germans did to MILLIONS of innocent Jews, Gypsies and Gays in World War II and then going on about all of the "good" that Hitler did, shows just how out of it some people are. :D

Wait, who died and made you the supreme judge is that constitutes a crime committed under a modern nation and not?

Do you want to tell us about all the good that Adolf Hitler did too? The Nazis were evil and a few good deeds don't change that and your boogey man Thaksin is no where in the same league. :o

What?

You are unable to answer a question so you make up some pseudo-argument that doesn't exist (have never defended A. Hitler).

Typical weasel.

You choose a year? Wanna tell us which year? Different per country? Have the list?

When you learn to write your question in English, perhaps someone will answer it. Sorry that I cannot translate gibberish. :o

Very good question.

I guess the answer is probably that they have been duped and misled into thinking that he didn't steal it and that he really does give two hoots about them.

Quite why seemingly intelligent and certainly not poor people of this forum feel it their duty to defend this man is another question altogether - that's the one i really can't get my head around. :o

Oh, and Henry, Jing etc. Discussions of the Vietnam War, Hitler etc. are not really Thailand related, are they?

Yes they are in this thread because this thread is about the relationship between Thai red/yellow and western concepts of right wing/left wing.

Winston Churchill said

"If you were not a liberal under age 30 - you had no heart"

"If you were not a conservative over age 30 - you had no brain"

So much for Churchill.

Here is a Jingthing:

If you did not judge each and every issue on its own merits instead of simplistic political labels (OR SHIRT COLORS) by age 40, you had no BALLS (and the lady equivalents).
