A few months ago on the road south from Khorat approaching the Khao Yai hills, at a bend in the road we passed a sign which said "ARE YOU BEARABLE?" I still haven't figured out whether it was some religious exhortation to deep introspection, or I was supposed to check the car's suspension and tyre pressures.
