Blocking the govt from working is actually illegal, if reds continue to do so they lose all their high moral ground and rules will change overnight.

Really?

It would have been nice if the PAD and their supporters would have held those views 9 months ago. Or do different rules apply to PAD?

"PAD leaders hear the charges against them

Published: 30/03/2009 at 10:03 AM

The leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) reported to hear the charges against them at the Royal Thai Police Sports Club at 9am on Monday.

Police have charged 21 people - 19 men and two women - with conspiring with more than 10 people to cause a social disturbance, obstructing police in the execution of their duty and unlawful detention of government officials.

The offences relate to the siege of parliament by PAD supporters on Oct 7 last year which led to clashes with riot police who used tear gas to disperse them."

Abhisit is gone for a week.

So what's the Red going to do now? Hang around doing nothing for a week? Don't forget that it cost 300 Baht/head/day (or what ever the amount is now).

What about sending the Red to Swampy to welcome Mark on his returns. Remember that's what the Yellow did to Somchai, causing AOT to hit the panic button and shut it down.

I think that is why Thaksins crew said it was a victory and to disband in the country side for now, mainly, because they had a pathetic turnout everywhere and don't feel like paying them every day and look pathetic at the same time. lol

It'll be interesting to see what happens during Songran, with all these Red Thugs in Bangkok getting drunk and showing their real colours? One of the great things about the PAD at Government house was, that they allowed no alcohol on site. I don't think that is something that the REDS will manage during Songkran. I think that they will get all drunk and stupid and eventually end up in jail or in the drunk tank somewhere. Either that, or most of them will just go away and party. After all, a good bottle of Lao Khao is more important than a few baht to many of them ;-)

Good thing that there are more important things to think about than a few groupies of an ousted Criminal.

As I said before, most people up here in the North just don''t care anymore. Even in Chiang Mai, there are very few people wearing red. Most red I see is company shirts, with people at work. One thing that has changed is, that now you see the occational yellow (and even Pantamit shirt), here in Chiang Mai, without having to worry about getting beat up or killed. For a Tuesday, that is amazing :-)

I decided to sport my "We Love Thailand - We love the King" shirt today and got a lot of really positive responses from Thai People.

When it comes right down to it, it is not Thaksin, who has the support of the people, it is someone else ;-)

2,000 volunteered red guards have no weapon and not covering faces.

In most case I do not quite agree with Koo. However I must agree with him that the Red gurads do not have obvious wespons (I don't know if any is hidden) and do not cover their face.

This is unlike the guards of the Yellow, who mostly cover their face, and openly handle weapons such as golf clubs, base ball bats etc. Unless you are telling me that they are playing balls.

Yeah yeah, it was not long time ago when Koo was cheering Sae Daeng to throw grenades in the midst of sleeping PAD members. Very peaceful indeed. Sae Daeng is all over the red place again, judging by the photos.

Do you remember what excuse Koo presented us - PAD wouldn't listen to other means, the only option left was to bomb them.

What are the chances this logic won't be evoked again? So far reds have not seen any resistance whatsoever, but with blocking the govt and upcoming court injunctions it will change, or they'll have to pack up and leave empty handed.

Plus, do you know why drugs can never end in Thailand? Do you know who are selling drugs?

Regular method for stopping drugs is to have concerts :o .

For those who broke the protest laws, camped so long and people in charge did not do a shesh, violence is the suitable method.

From what I hear from the red stage now, tanks are seen near Nong Khai. They asked why not bring those tanks to Bangkok so they can drive. From the news the reds got, people may make a coup at 20:00 tonight.

This morning the person in charge at Taxi Radio Station said, he has agreed with 10,000 taxi drivers that as soon as tanks are seen in Bangkok, drivers will block all streets with their taxis, lock and leave taxis there.

Why would the army stage a coup?

They can ignore you for a week, then let the govt deal with you.

There's absolutely no reason for the army to get involved, you overestimate your own, current level of threat.

If Thaksin indeed returns and lead the red idiots to take power by force, to hel_l with taxi drivers and their cabs, it will be a full out civil war already.

I agree, drunkenness is not big or clever. Dipsos just make themselves look silly. Its not as if they're drinking to aid digestion - they're doing it to get blotto. We should not condone over consumption - beyond the occasional aperitif.

Alcohol is not the answer.

Drugs are sold at concerts world wide.

It is the place to find the most sympathetic buyers in a concentrated area.

Of course not ALL concerts are this kind of fan.

But that far from means that drugs are not sold day in and day out around the country.

Including during the time of Thaksin's war. He slowed it down for a spell, but eradicated nothing.

More drugs are sold at discos and bars than all concerts put together.

Police to face disciplinary probe for supporting red-shirts

BANGKOK: -- The Metropolitan Police will investigate for possible disciplinary action police officers in uniform who publicly displayed their support to the anti-government protesters, a senior officer said Tuesday.

Police Maj-General Suporn Phansua, the Metropolitan Police spokesman, said yesterday that any officer has the right to show their political preference outside of working hours and when they are not in uniforms.

"It's extremely improper for them to join [a political protest] in uniforms," the police spokesman said.

He added that police have the duty of keeping law and order at the protest site and are required to stay neutral.

I am waiting to see who pops up to lead the Reds when their leaders are put in jail. For the PAD it was Gen. Panlop who stepped on stage. Is it possible he will do this again, but for the other side?

Don't attack Koo personally. Just let her show the real red colors in full bloom. No name calling is necessary in her case.

I gotta agree here.

I haven't agreed with Koo in a LONG time, but I understand she is sincere.

She is not a bad lady, just maybe hoodwinked might be a good word.

Several of us have watched her ideological progress with trepidation,

but I would still be happy to break bread with her. At least during less

strenuous times then this week.

She is being sold a bill of sale and thinks she will get the product marked,

I doubt that is so, but she believes and that could be worse.

I prefer a well meaning, but misgueded true believer to a pandering shill any day.

Which shows how clueless the guy at Taxi Radio is.

That just means lots of flat taxis, lost to their owners.

If you imaging the 'threat' of a taxi in the way will deter a tank you are dreaming.

Presumably all just loose talk in this instance - let's hope so.

But I wonder whether you are right in understimating soft power.Even now the image of that Chinese student in Tianmen Square with his plastic bags facing down the tank resonates.Yes the murderous Chinese party thugs won the day twenty years ago but who will be the perceived victor as history develops.I have a hunch it will be that wonderfully brave student.

The army under present leadership will not initiate a violent crackdown on demonstrators. Reds are just talking to cheer themselves. They choose to belive this farce where Thaksin is fighting for democracy, they pretend they have the majority on their side, they pretend they have as much power as PAD, they pretend the army is going to attack them and they imagine how brave they will be when it happens.

Better way to solve the Taxi problem...

Rather than making Taxi Pizza's, have them all towed to inpound yard, pull the owners chaufeurs license and give the license and taxi to some poor guy, who wants to feed his family ;-)

I doubt they will need tanks to remove the Red guys. Just double their protesting money and most of them will all cheer for the government ;-)

Pull what off?

PAD couldn't dislodge the govt even with all their backing. What chance to the reds have? No court is going to dissolve Democrats anytime soon and the coalition isn't rambling, they all want to be in a working government, not begging Thaksin for election funds.

I have a feeling that this current government will handle things much more quickly and effectively. Now that the Government has a court order against Thaksins followers, I expect them to remove them within the next few days, if they don't leave on their own.

Knowing the REDS, they will probably declare victory and then run with their tails between their legs ;-)

If the Yellow can ignore a similar court order, why can't the Red. Unless they both live in different countryies, under different laws.

I think you are right on most of this but not all.Without going into detail I suspect many underestimate the broad national sympathy for the Reds.Clearly they don't have the elite support and unlimited funding of the PAD, nor that organisation's influence and power. They almost certainly have more Thais on their side but whether it's a majority I don't know (and neither with respect do you).I think you are right to assume the army won't intervene violently but on the other hand all it takes is one silly incident. The PAD was desperately trying to provoke some kind of assault and in the end succeded in creating a "massacre." I think that Abhisit has a cool head and will do his best to manage this situation competently.

I see incidentally Abhisit has reportedly agreed to be interviewed by Hardtalk.Good for him.If true he has cojones because there is one explosive question out there that has never been asked and almost certainly will be raised by the Hardtalk interviewer.

The govt will simply clear one entrance and that's it.

As I said earlier - it's the same rules, just a different game. If reds want to play PAD game of tug of war with the police, they'd better be prepared, and they'd better anticipate a huge public backlash, and they'd better be prepared to shed those "innocent democratic lambs" image they've been trying so hard to sell.

That would be a an entirely different proposition.
