Massage parlour minimum age

On April 16, another controversial law is being enforced. After that date, massage parlors can no longer employ anyone under the age of 40, and are required to register all employees as such. This will minimize the request by customers for "extra services" which can cause problems with marriages and minor wives.

Great idea, get rid of all the inexperienced young chicks who don't know what they are doing and then can't keep theirs mouths shut.

....... But what about 'the happy-ending' !!!!!! :D

I think everyone got the happy ending that George intended :o

No point in coming to Thailand anymore.......Are they for real !!!!! With this mentality why don't they just ban all farrangs under the age of 85 unless accompanied with BOTH parents. New2thai Newbie

More chance of enacting that than arresting the airport anarchist's!

Most of the posts have now been set visible.

Ah! I wondered why so many posters thought it was real, even though others had called it an April Fools post. Nice work mods! As soon as I read the "sliding scale of closures" (:o) I checked the date. I'll now go back and read the rest. Nice one George, et al.

My first post disappeared too.

I was almost believing until, .......No way, massueses over 40...... sheeeesh.

Not even mentally challenged Thai pollies would do that........

Mind you, over 40s will give you a better time than the lifeless slabs of flesh the 18 - 25s will serve up.

There is a great book, IN PRAISE OF OLDER WOMEN, my gospel when younger.

Neva care, but after so many views, people still taking it seriously.

Amazing.

ALL KUDOS to George.

Brilliant mate..... also those mods who kept it going by deleting the give away posts, cheers.

Edit to add, 246 posts on one day, is it a record?

I do not see a problem with drinking during this period of Songkran but I would like to say that we have seen a large increase in Foreign Tourists in Chiang Mai & Samui who are drinking from bottles in the street throughout the day & evening which I feel does not help the drinking problem at all or Tourism. It can be intimidating. As if there are not enough bars etc to take your drink. It lowers the overall tone & if the Thai Government want to see an increase in older longer term tourists along with more mature short stays then they need to check it out. When all is said & done we all like a drink it's just the few that mess it up. :o

....whats that all about? I dont think i've ever seen anyone over forty (apart from 'Mama-sang') and minor wives?? is that legal? 2 wives? I mean why would you want to have a nagging wife, a nagging minor wife and everyone at the local 'massage' is over forty? ...ha ha

I go to a real 'proper' massage service (sports and therapy massage) in a nice hotel in Sriracha with my Mrs, The ladies are all under forty. what about them? They are educated, trained and qualified, i would think you'd get arrested if you asked them for 'extras'.

Surely this will lead to many of the girls going down beach road or dodgy bars putting themselves in all sorts of danger instead of a half decent place with showers, clean massage tables, hygienic staff etc??

Hello all Farangs and Thais out there, now the government has a common Sense law intact. Wow?? Shocked me at this point. Message parlors are no longer hire younger ladies. Thank Heaven, may be these women can go back to school and do something else that productiove to society. Get real real jobs?? Finally, these women can earn their trust and status in society. No more little wives around or no more misstress. Good great?? May be families will have Peace and sanity. A message Parlor should be like health palace not a place for sexes that distribute Aids, and STD...etc...

I agree with you about your comment but, how many will as such be proper services for health and well being?? Well thank for posting and thanks for reading my opinion. I stand tall.

I suggest that you go lie down in a darkened room and wait for the men in white coats to call.

Songkran alcohol ban canned, crackdown on alcohol postponed to April 16

BANGKOK: -- The Thai government has postponed the proposed alcohol ban during the Songkran festivals. The National Committee for Alcohol Consumption Control yesterday canned the no alcohol ban during the traditional Thai new year from April 13 to 15.

The committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sanan Kachornprasart, found that a alcohol sales ban during Songkran would further harm the tourism industry.

"The meeting decided the ban would have a bad impact on tourism, particularly on Songkran day, which draws over 150,000 foreign tourists," Maj Gen Sanan said.

Alcohol crackdown to start April 16

The Committee has become alarmed at the deterioration of family values and family unity. One of the main evils of this problem is alcoholic beverages. The new proposal will require bars, convenience stores and entertainment centers that serve alcohol to adjust their closing times as follows:

All bars, shops and entertainment centers will closed based on a sliding window. Mondays close at 1:00AM, Tuesday 12:00 Midnight, Wednesday 11:00PM, Thursday 10:00 PM and Fridays at 9:00PM. Saturdays, Sundays and all official holidays, alcoholic beverages will not be allowed to be sold.

"The sliding window will reduce the problems with sudden alcohol withdrawal and allow family members to be able to spend more time with each other. Saturdays and holiday closures will improve Thai tourism and family outings", says Boonlert Sukaparpraeng, consumption controller at the Department of Culture.

The sliding window could be different in various provinces allowing the creation of many jobs for coach and minibus companies to ferry foreigners around to the correct province to fit in with the well established pattern of Immigration decentralized offices, recently enforced by the Immigration Bureau.

Foreigners holding a valid work permit or residency will still be able to purchase alcohol in so called Mom'n'Pop shops during the prohibited hours.

"This is typical for the Democrat Party", says Somchai Duemlaukaeng, Deputy chairman at the Consumer Protection board. "Thai people has one of the highest alcohol consumption pattern in the world per capita". This will only increase the sales of Lao Khao in the provinces."

Given that I only noticed the thread today, it got me in. Takes a fair bit to trick me, George - good one (esp given that there has been talk of banning aclohol over Songkran). You have woven a story around elements of prior fact and our western inability to fully comprehend Thai thinking/logic. It would come as little surprise to many for such a law to be enacted. Indeed, one of the official (genuine rules) for the coming Songkran (at least in Phuket province) is that women should not be scantily or provocatively dressed!
