I am trying to call to Chiang Mai from BKK using my mobile. The number is 053 XXX XXX

How should i dial it? How many numbers should be? What is the code of CM?

That's a correct number of digits.. just dial like you wrote, so 053 and then the six digits. If it doesn't work then the number is wrong or no longer in service.
