Does anyone know where and how to apply for the new driving licence.

Do you have to wait for the old one to run out first.

I don't think it's done at the normal transport office, but I stand to be corrected.

It's standard at any Land Transport office, but like anything else, depends on whether they have the cards in stock or not.

I got mine recently. You don't have to wait for your old one to expire. They charge a fee of 100 baht more for the new (international) license. You can use it in 10 ASEAN countries. Valid for 5 years. I have one for driving motorcycles and another for driving cars.

Note: You do not need to bring photos if you want the new type of license. They take your photo there.

If you are applying for a new Thai driving licence Then you need a Letter from immigration and two photos You do not need a doctors certificate if you are renewing your licence. You can apply 1 month before your old one runs out,The thing that puzzled me was you need two photos one for the application form and the other who knows,And then they take a photo themselves to put on your licence Seemed a bit strange but TIT GOOD LUCK....

You need a doctors certificate for the one year temporary and the full five year licence.

As a foreigner, you will be issued with the dual language licence.

You CANNOT renew the licence until it expires!!!!!!!!

Just been there today.

You can apply up to 90 days before old one's running out.

Best solution if you have the "yellow book".

You'll have to do a reaction- and an eye -test (only spotting colours), and at exam's room either you get the traffic rules notes to read or have to watch a video.

The most uncomfortable is the time it all takes. I arrived at 9.30, was done 12.35.

But they work through lunch-break!
