Hi..

I have this UBC Decoder (Satellite/DSTV): ABS 8976.

Yesterday i noticed a yellow LED being "on" beside the usual red one, this did not go away. After i disconnected the box from the mains for a minute and plugged it back in it was gone however.

Today the yellow LED came "on" again and has remained on for several hours again. Reception still works, so there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the box.

Oh, this yellow LED remains "on" whether the box itself is "on" or "off", as right now (off) it only displays the time and the two LED's red and yellow.

Does anyone know what this means..?

Kind regards....

So, it's not just mine. I also noticed the yellow light on for the last couple of nights and was trying to remember if it was always like that. :o Perhaps some maintenance/test signal activating it. This is in Chiang Mai.

I had an idea to popup the menu and suspected it may be a mail notification. Selected Mailbox and a message was waiting from True. Appears to be an ad, but didn't take the time to read it as it was in Thai. Exited the menu and the yellow light is now out.

Thanks Tywais- I had the yellow light same-same, and had spam in the mailbox same-same. Your solution was right on.

It means that there is a message or announcement, go to the menu and go down to mail then read or delete whatever it is ,by the way Hi to you all.

Hi :o

Thank you all so much! Yes, same-same here - some message in Thai was sitting there. Deleted that and now the light is off.

I didn't even know that the decoder has this function...... Where will they send spam next, as popups on the TV screen..??

Best regards....

Edit:

Something about... "Member of Truevisions, get discount 20-50% blah blah..."

PS. Why do I get a red LED - to the right of the green one - when tuned to BBC Entertainment? :o

I noticed the yellow light yesterday...I thought it might have something to do with lost reception due to rain...or, the frequent power failures....when a thunderstorm even thinks about snooping around this area the electricity goes off....so, when changing channels an odd icon appeared...my wife said I have mail...I checked and, yep, there was some mail. We looked at the messages and now the yellow light is off.

I wonder...True can send mail to urge you to buy something. Why can't they send mail about service issues...you know, keep the customer informed about planned service interruptions or such. Oh, I forget, I am in the land of middle school thinkers..cognitive development seemed to have stopped here at about the age of 13.

Hmm. Yesssssssssss. You mean use the facility to be helpful, rather than profitable? Doubtful.

Anyway, tonight I have a full house - green, yellow and red.

The yellow LED message is different from yesterdays'.

I get the red LED on HBO, Star Movies and BBC Entertainment. I suppose it could be linked to the package, but can't be bothered to investigate more. :o

Hi :o

I have now gotten the yellow one daily, 3 times together.... where is the SPAM-filter function???

The red LED on some channels signals a stereo transmission, me thinks. Try it on music channels or when there is some sort of live broadcast (worked always when Academy Fantasia was on and it switched from studio to concert, mono->stereo red LED off->on

Kind regards....

Per my user manual on the Topfield box. The LEDs from left to right:

Power LED - Red in standby, off when powered on

IR led - green on, blinks when remote is pushed

Mail Led - yellow on when new unread mail

Stereo LED - yellow on when receiving a Stereo signal

Radio LED - yellow on when receiving a radio signal

Hi :o

I don't have a manual for my box, but i just tested it. I get a red one on the mentioned channels as well (and on ALL music channels!), and on this box when i push a button on the remote an extra yellow LED (bottom right) comes on briefly.

So in my box, the red one is definitely for stereo (easy to hear it's stereo on those channels).

So my LED-modes:

Off = red (left-most LED)

On = same LED turns green

Stereo = green - red

Radio mode = green - red - green.

Radio mode + got mail + remote button pressed = firework, green - yellow - red - green - yellow

Best regards....
