How Early Did You Get Your Renewal

Featured Replies

Non immigrant "o' query

as I have always dealt with non local office

My local office non co-operative went to another where despite Feb 15th (use local ruling ) was quite happy to deal with me but asked me to return 28days before expiry.

Unfortunately this just when I need to to be in Europe.I read here of folks renewing well in advance ,what's the truth of hthe matterHow early have TV members actually had renewals in advance of expiry please?

Grateful for all personal advice and "reliabl;e" heresay and whether your office will deal with any address

Every one of the few farangs here has a different experience and each year the rules seem to vary TIT

Thanking you all in anticipation

It should be done with 30 days or less remaining but most will consider doing early if you visit with an airline ticket and good reasons that you can not be here at that time. I would not try doing that at an office you are not supposed to be using.

In Pattaya, there was a press release last year stating they strongly welcome and encourage retirement extensions as early as THREE MONTHS early.

Pattaya press unfortunately does not have a very high accuracy of reporting on immigration matters in my opinion.

Yes, true, but it was based on an announcement and interview with a prominent immigration official. I was also skeptical and fairly recently asked for confirmation, and a poster said he had done so THIS YEAR well over two months early without a word of objection. My judgment is this is real and true for now at Pattaya. Of course things can change anytime.

Here is the proof:

My last annual extension was done in Pattaya about 7 weeks early due to upcoming travel and they didn't say anything about it being early. That was last Oct and Dec was my scheduled renewal.

As we all know though YMMV.

Maybe someone in Pattaya actually stumbled over the economic maxim about "time value of money" : collect it early, earn a few extra satang.......

But, no, probably not -- that satang wouldn't reflect favorably anywhere on current accounts -- or in anyone's pocket. Maybe they just realized it would be an added service to their operation -- without absolutely *no* downside for doing so (and completely unaware of the upside, albeit slight).

Do I detect a trend within the Immigration community? Yeah, right. Community? More like individual empires. Same with MFA Consulates.
