Go to the British Embassy BKK website. Read up on what is required. Download the forms. Fill in, and attach required documents, including a postal order for the cost. Two weeks later your child will have a British passport. No need to visit the embassy, all done by post. Good luck.

Get the Thai birth certificate translated and stamped at somewhere that is registered with the relevant Thai authorities (forget the name now, something like MFA ?). Be very careful to check that the spelling and all the dates are accurate.

Take this to the MFA place near Don Muang airport. This is the same place for Thai passports so you can get both at the same time.

Pay Bt800 or so and they expedite the certification of the translation and stamp it.

Take that plus the passport application form you printed out from the net with the relevant photos and your passport and documents including your long version birth certificate, available by post to Thailand, to the embassy. Wiat, pay the fee and collect the baby's passport 10 days later.

The mother is not required but you and your documents are required to get the Thai passport.
