Information On Which Areas In Bkk To Avoid

Featured Replies

Of course this may change, but at present, where are the demonstrators gathered and which roads are closed?

I ask personally because my wife and young son are due to arrive in Sukhumvit (soi 24) tomorrow and I will need to warn them off if this is dangerous. I'm sure many others would be keen to know for their own reasons too.

This situation is so fluid it is impossible to predict. All I can say is if you see a large mob of people wearing the same color shirt go the other direction.

I understand this is a moving demonstration but as a start point, are red shirts generally congregating in one area at present (and where) or is it more a case of people roaming the streets?

I heard that the interior ministry was swarmed so should I assume that most people are in that area (wherever that may be!)?

Soldiers shooting in the air and firing tear gas have cleared the first small group of red shirts from an area near the Victory Monument. Dozens of people were injured.

Several hundred troops opened up with tear gas against a few hundred red shirts near the Din Daeng intersection.

Most of the reported injuries were from tear gas inhalation but several people were said to be badly injured in the clash.

The 4am military attack was shown on TV. Footage showed protesters scattering as the troops moved in.

Comment: Looks like the Army may be making some kind of a move to remove the protestors from the Victory Monument and the Democracy Monument area.

Avoid that area until you know what's happening for certain.
