lol......No....I think I have it right.

I am farang and have no horse in this race. Now, if a Party emerges that encourages foreign investment and relaxes Visa requirements on Expat retirees, perhaps I might get half as passionate as you with respect to Thai politics. Until that happens, then I am resigned to merely wish the peoples elected choice the best and hope the losing Party takes the intervening time before the next election learning how to appeal to all people. Irealize that might sound like a radical concept to some here

I don't want Thaksin back and I am afraid that Khun Abhisit....even if his heart was in the right place.....has been thrown to the wolves by everyone during this epidode and likely can't recover long term.

TiT.....This drama will play itself out.....in due time

Why don't you start using capital letters and correct punctuation before you start correcting other people's spelling? :o

AFTER THE CHAOS

More rallies 'as soon as decree ends'

Movement will regroup and hit back stronger, Pheu Thai MP vows

The red shirts were likely to regroup after the government lifts the state of emergency, sources from security forces said yesterday.

Although life in Bangkok appears to have returned to normal, intelligence officials have had tips that supporters of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra plan more rallies as soon as the state of emergency is discarded.

Red-shirt leaders such as Jatuporn Promphan, Jakrapob Penkair had earlier announced they were ready to stage an underground movement.

Informants claim the new round of rallies were intended to be more dramatic than those that took place in recent days. Full Story

Veera, Natthawut, Weng brought to Criminal Court

Police Thursday sought the Criminal Court's permission for extending detention of three red-shirted movement leaders.

Veera Musigapong, Natthawut Saikua and Weng Tojitrakarn were brought to the Criminal Court at 7 am amid tight security provided by two companies of policemen.

Troops also surrounded the court's compound on Ratchada Road.

So far, no red-shirted people showed up to rally.

Most of us think that the "pedantic morons" are the ones who nitpick about other people's spelling (especially when they are not able to use correct punctuation themselves). :o

so now you are the spokesman for the silent majority on TV?

i see from your profile after 12, 173 posts you have made since 2004 you have made as many as 12 friends on this forum, two of which are banned

so how you get to use the phrase ''most of us'' is a mystery to me

at best you seem to represent a group of 10 from nearly 100,000 members

you seem like a billy no mates type to me, with litle else to do but be critical of people that actually contribute something positive to the board

maybe you should get out more......

Complaining about other posters's minor spelling mistakes and counting how many "friends" people have listed on their profile is hardly "contributing something positive to the board" - especially since you can't use the English language correctly yourself and have no "friends" listed AT ALL. :o

Most Thai Visa members don't appreciate members who constantly point out silly little mistakes like minor spelling errors because almost everyone makes them and it is a waste of everyone's time.

Do a poll if you think that I am wrong. :o

its a slow news day ulysses, just keeping myself active until something more worthy of comment turns up

if it was not so slow around here i would not even bother responding to you

as it is its barely keeping me awake (yawn)

so this thread with you is only alive until something of more interest breaks

(anything please God......make it soon)

i do not have any friends here nor do i want any and would reject any attempts to have any friends break my stride

i dance to the beat of my own drum and would rather have people with a pulse as a friend than some cyberbot with a picture on a website

as to english, spelling and grammar, why would i bother?

its a free and easy forum, not the sunday times and i do not have to answer to you or anyone

you are not my boss, teacher, father or someone i feel responsible to and would feel obliged not to offend their delicate disposition.

you will never reach those dizzying heights

so i will write what i want, exactly how i want to write it and say exactly what i want until i go too far and get removed by George

if posting with accurate spelling and grammar was a prerequisite of being able to post on this board, the boards membership would likely be reduced to 5% of its current numbers

if you respond to this, please note i have a very short attention span, so try Google to find something interesting to say.

there are many websites with good quotes and one liners on there

they are very useful for people with nothing original to say of their own and frankly ulysses i am getting bored with your repetative, rhetoric

until then i wish you a very good morning's nit picking

steady ulysses, you just two made consecutive posts!

i must be getting under your skin

you make the poll ulysses, you seem to be the one who cares

i don't think you are wrong

i just don't care what you think.......

An unfortunate response

what are you novaboo?

some kind of cyberstalker?

every time i post you are there with some inane two or three word response

i am sure if you let your imagination run riot you might even be able to string a whole paragraph together.

i will look back in on your postings in the next seven to ten days and see what you come up with

i know its gonna take longer but a rough draft within that time will be ok

Given the latest crisis, do you have confidence in Abhisit's abilities to lead this country out of the current crisis?

hel_l no. He is scared to call on election. We would not had all of this if he did.

After what happened he would easily win an election with full coalition support. Taklsin realised this so he incited a riot.

Abhisit holding on to a 60% approval rating on TV (which is the same as his approval rating in the country, I might point out).

Come on Thaksinistas! Where are you? Stand up and show us that Abhisit's support is a myth...

It seems that a number of farangs, probably Brits have imported the British class system into Thailand. They don't like Abhsit because he has a lot of "class" something that they obviously haven't got.

It is fair to say that any wealthy Thai family would prefer to have their children educated in the West if they had the means to do so. There is a long history of the 'higher-ups' studying in UK and USA etc.

The Thai social system is completly different to the out-moded English class system, inasmuch as now you have rich English kids from upper class families trying to play down their heritage - mockneys etc.

But I would say that class has nothing to do with money and heritage. It is more to do with politeness (which most educated Thais have) and intelligence. Both Abhist has in abundance. Unfortunately these two qualities are not sufficent, by themselves, to govern Thailand at this present time.

I voted YES...

He is doing all the right things like a PM would in any other civilized democratic country.

Social and political change can only come with reforms and not by rioting like what the reds are doing.

If he's given the chance, then yes no doubt about it.

His performance in dealing with the reds was, is and always will be hampered by the perceived connection between his administration and the military. If he'd done what he should have, and his predessor did do, he would have ordered the army and police to bust a few heads, get some blood on the carpet. The protestors would have evaporated quicker that you could spend their 500 Baht in Pattaya. But that would have brought about worldwide condemnation and also given some credence to the mob and their thug in chief Thaksin. But he's letting the reds sow the seeds of their own demise by creating vast resentment amongst the ordinary people, he's given them just enough rope now all they have to do is stick their neck in the noose.

Where Samak and Somchai failed with dignity

:o

Samak was found guilty of taking money, from a company which depended upon his government's goodwill for its profits, then lied about it in court, and when his coalition-governments MPs were asked to reconfirm him as the PM afterwards, was abandoned by them without a second thought. Sleaze and back-stabbing by his own side.

Somchai played golf & went to karaoke in Chiang Mai, while his government & the country fell apart, before the courts dissolved his party for electoral-fraud. He also failed to call a fresh election, when advised to, and never really got to grips with the job.

I hardly think you can accuse either one of failing with dignity.

Abhisit by comparison is still sober & serious, appealing for calm and trying to avoid the conflict escalating out-of-control, despite having been attacked in person in Pattaya & in Bangkok. He might not succeed, if the powers-that-be fail to support him, as the police clearly do not, but he certainly deserves to, and Thai democracy needs him to IMHO. :D

Given the latest crisis, do you have confidence in Abhisit's abilities to lead this country out of the current crisis?

Yes I do; absolutely ! It was a masterful performance, which totally credits Kh. Abhisit and totally discredited the "other side".

Now he has yet another great opportunity to un-nerve the saga of the Yellow-Shirts (still awaiting justice), since the cowardly and brutal attack on Khun Sonthi, yesterday morning at 05:00, since the court could then rule, that inspite of a suspended guilty-ruling Kh. Sonthi will be allowed to go free since it could be inferred that he "received sufficient punishment" compliments of the"other side" yet again. (Please Note: over 100 rounds fired at his car with an AK-47 ! ! ! )

Talk about getting one's foot into one's mouth, huh ?!?!

Now; let's hope this administration has the guts to clean-up the Police, Border-Police, Immigration and Armed Forces businesses ! !

Thailand: the Future is Here ! ! !

Ulysses: you hit the nail squarly on the head ! This "Blackman" character really begins to stick-out like the proverbial 'sore-thumb' - in my opinion this chap is a Moron of Epic proportions. Rarely ever seen such a Tsunami of verbal diahrea ! !

Cheers,

A poll of a bunch of farangs on the Internet. What possible meaning does it have? :D

It means they were educated to think and express an opinion and that other peoples opinions have value and relevance! :D

It means that fahrangs show an interest in the future of the nation and it's people. This can be construed as empathy or altruism.

IMO the interest shown in the well being of thai people (with the usual lapses :o ) is commendable.

In the forum we can see a variety of views expressed relatively politely. No one has been shot or bombed for expressing their opinion and few have shrugged shoulders and said "up to you" or "not my problem"

When we get to the stage where Thai people can sit and discuss opposing political views in the open without fear of violence, reprisal, imprisonment or social ostracism.

Where each child grows to learn they are an important part of the social contract and their opinion counts.

Where respect is based on social merit, not wealth or family.

Where childrens individualism, invention encouraged and and positive ideals are nurtured.

Where this translates into integrity, transparency and a concern for others beyond self and immediate family.

yada yada, you get the idea right?

Abhisit is not the real PM. What can you expect from him? I feel Suthep is the real one.

Suthep/Newin/Anupong- Last Week

this week- Abhisit

"A week is a long time in politics!"

Methinks they'll have to review the new boy and give him a bit of respect now.

I've voted maybe and hope so. Same as I did when he was appointed P.M.

(and yes I realise it's not a real vote :o )
