Hi,

I'm a Myanmar nationality who is studying in Malaysia. I'm thinking to go back to my country by transiting flight thru BKK airport so will I need to take a transit visa ? I won't go out of Airport but just have to spend a few hours inside the airport.

If it's required to take visa then how much would be the fee?

Thanks everyone in advance.

If less than 12 hours and you do not have to claim baggage/check in no visa is required. But be aware many airlines these days are not full service so be sure you can check through to your destination.

National Myanmar (MM) /Transit Thailand (TH)

Destination Myanmar (MM)

ALSO CHECK DESTINATION INFORMATION BELOW

Thailand (TH)

TWOV (Transit Without Visa):

Visa required, except for Transit passengers continuing their

journey to a third country within 12 hours provided not

leaving the transit lounge, and holding tickets with confirmed

reservations and other documents for their onward journey.

Additional Information:

- All visitors must hold documents required for their next

destination.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I will need a visa as the two flights are different flights. I have to claim my baggage, then check in again so I would be probably pass thru Immigration. How much would be the Visa fee then?

Isn't Myanmar (Burma) is an ASEAN country - therefore No Visa is required??? Just Wondering....

ooops sorry... just read the list of countries: passport holders who can enter Thailand without visa - AND for The Union of Myanmar is not one of them. Sorry mate.

If he had a diplomatic or official passport he could enter for 30 days by bilateral agreement - but he appears to have a normal passport and that requires a visa for entry.

Hi again,

I got the reply from Thai Embassy in KL regarding the inquiry of visa which I send a few days back. In the email, he said that I would need to pay for visa fee which is 180 Malaysian Ringgit for two entry :o

Just in case...

Nobody of the forum members with another nationality should make conclusions based on this discussion.

I have a friend who is unfortunate enough to have a passport which needs in most countries also a visa to be a few hours in transit (staying in the international departure hall to take a connecting flight without going through any passport check).

The people at check-in desk of any airline know this and would not let him on board without a visa.

The only reliable source of information is the nearest embassy or consulate of the country where you plan to put your foot on the ground (eventually also airline offices).
