Dates Keep Switching On My Photos...

Featured Replies

I bought a Canon Rebel (Kiss) last May. Since then, about three times this year, the photos downloading to my computer have the dates Nov / Dec 2008 on them.

Is this common for Canons? Or computers? And what do I do about it? For now I'm putting the real dates on the folders but it is continuing to bug me.

Like right now, with my Songkran photos coming in Dec 1, Nov 30th... And I believe I downloaded these very same photos on another computer, but with the correct dates (a computer problem?).

Ok, I just checked my camera and it now has 08/12/02 as a date. But I've never set the date so why is is bouncing around? Does this happen everytime the battery is recharged? If so, then how does it 'find' the right date later on? Because this has only happened a handful of times. The rest of the time the correct date shows on the files

That's strange - my Canon 5D has lately been asking for the date to be input when I switch on. Not every time, but 2/3 times in the last month.

I suspect the backup battery is the problem as this is the item that retains your settings. I'll wait 'til mine becomes for problematical then change it.

p.s. in the user manual it does specifically state that if the date/time changes when the batteries are removed then it is the back up battery that needs replacing

Odd, as my camera is fairly new... but as I need to take it back in due to the flash sticking, I'll have them replace the backup battery too.
