Looking To Live In Thailand For 1 Year. What Are My Visa Options?

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm German and 27 years old and looking to stay in Thailand for 1 year. I dont want to work and Im not married to a Thai girl. I just want to live there and enjoy the Thai lifestyle. I saw that there are 1 year non immigrant visas. Would I be able to get one of those? I saw in another post that it could be possible with the reason of "Visiting friends". Is that true?

I recently applied for a 6 month tourist visa but didnt get it because I didnt provide documentation for my flight, which is strange because on the german Thai Embassy website it didnt list flight documents as part of the required documents. They also said that I would need to provide documentation for 3 flights since I will have 3 entries. So what if I want to do visa runs by bus to Cambodia for example?

What are my options here?

You can get a 1 year multiple entry non immigrant o visa from the Thai consulate in Stuttgart to visit friends. Contact them for more info.

Do I need to name the friend that Im visiting? Is that what they mean with Guarantor on the application? Do I need to provide a flight ticket for this as well? If yes, is a One way ticket enough?

You don't need the name. Leave guarantor blank.

You should not need to the ticket.

Suggest you contact the consulate to confirm what they require.

Suspect the "ticket" requirements were because you were asking about a free visa (tourist). Some Consulates have started to do that (perhaps to decrease there workload - in true spirit of increasing tourism?). Asking for 3 tickets is a bit over the top.

It's really NOT over the top when their Motto is "When you can make it difficult why make it easy?" :o

If Stuttgart doesn't play ball, people have reported that the visa friendly Hull consulate in UK will post to a European address. Try them http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/
