Minivan Driver Brutally Assaulted in Dispute Over 300-Baht Commission in Pattaya
Picture courtesy of NBT. Chaos erupted shortly after midnight on Second Road in Pattaya when a heated dispute between minivan drivers turned violent, leaving one man severely injured and prompting emergency responders and bystanders to flee the scene for safety. At 00:15 on 10 March, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chaowalit Suwanmanee, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a violent altercation. He promptly informed Police Colonel Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, and dispatched officers to the scene along with rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation. Upon arrival, officers encountered a chaotic and volatile scene. Two groups of individuals were still attempting to assault each other. The injured man was identified as 35-year-old Mr. Tinnakorn Nueathong, who had suffered a head injury and multiple bruises across his body. Rescue workers began administering first aid, but the situation escalated when members of the opposing party charged at the injured man once more, forcing medics, tourists, and nearby workers to flee in fear of being caught in the violence. Despite efforts to restrain the aggressors, Mr. Tinnakorn was again kicked and beaten while being treated. Police eventually managed to bring the situation under control, allowing rescuers to safely transport the victim to a nearby hospital. Mr. Boonmee Mahawan, 34, one of the individuals involved in the altercation, told police that he and Mr. Tinnakorn both work as minivan drivers and had longstanding tension over boastful behaviour and a 300-baht commission that Mr. Tinnakorn allegedly refused to share. The dispute flared up while the men were drinking beer at their usual roadside parking area. Witnesses stated that Mr. Tinnakorn approached the group aggressively, shouting and demanding to know who had a problem with him before challenging Mr. Boonmee to a fight. According to Mr. Natthapong Wongsarat, 35, he attempted to calm the situation, but Mr. Tinnakorn escalated matters by threatening the group. The confrontation quickly descended into a violent brawl. Mr. Tinnakorn later told police that he had come to the minivan stand to “clear the air” with his colleagues, but the conversation failed, and he was set upon by several individuals, leading to his injuries. A concerned citizen called the police to intervene. Footage captured by a local resident showed the violent brawl erupting in full view of stunned onlookers and tourists, many of whom ran for cover as the scene descended into chaos. Despite efforts by bystanders to intervene, the two parties showed no sign of stopping, with Mr. Tinnakorn eventually overpowered and seriously assaulted. Even as rescue teams tried to treat him, his attackers returned to continue the assault, prompting medics to flee for safety. Police have since summoned both parties involved to Pattaya City Police Station for questioning and have pledged to proceed with legal action impartially and fairly for all involved. -- 2025-04-11 -

Russia’s economy is doomed
Always been so. The Tsar wasn't overthrown and executed for being nice to the peasants. Which is in no way excusing the vile treatment of the peasants, just that it's always been that way in that unfortunate part of the planet. -
