Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop And Thailand Power

Featured Replies

I have my Dell desktop from America here now and I do believe that the Thai power is not 110 volts. I have a dip switch on the back of my power supply on my desktop that allows me to switch from 110 to 230. Do I need to switch that to 230 before I plug in the power? I only get one chance to get it right or risk blowing the power supply up. Anyone have same issue with American desk top?

Thanks so much...

Flip the switch; Thailand uses 220-240.

Yeah, too late for that. The power supply is shot now. I had it to 230 but i guess it didn't push all the way and just blew up. So, looks like i'm going out for another power supply.

Does anyone know where I can get a new powersupply for it? It's a new Dell Inspiron 530S

FYI, a guy on the 5th floor of Pantip fixed my power supply. After I blew the fuker up, he was able to fix it. Got to love the Thais. Only cost me 400 baht...

Hi :o

FIX a power supply for 400 Baht? What power supply was that?

Because you can get a new one for 250 Baht :D

However a GOOD one cost real money - Enermax or Thermaltake run beyond 3,000 Baht, but their warranty is a good one - i had one Enermax burn out when it was about a year old and got it fixed for free (warranty), however i have been using Thermaltake ever since and keep that Enermax as a spare.

I have built plenty computers with "cheap crap" power supplies (250 Baht class) and am surprised again and again how long those keep running... some over 5 years already, with daily use.

Kind regards....

Thanh

Don't feel too badly. I had the exact same thing happen...

Problem was that even though I knew the Dell was dual-voltage, I didn't know there was a switch. Happened two years ago and still upset about it. Got it fixed at Pantip.
