I live pretty close to the Cambodian border, close enough to make a visa run a 3 hour affair.

I could quite hapily live with doing a trip every 14 days and getting a visa exampt stamp.

The problem is that every time I did this I would lose a whole page in my passport as the Cambodian visa on entry thing is a great big sticker!

I've been toying with the idea of getting a long term Cambodian visa, and then just doing a run for one morning every 14 days, it actually would work out pretty chap as I could buy cut price cigs as well every 2 weeks.

Has anybody tried this before?

Now this looks incredibly interesting.

It looks like the border crossing at Chom Choeng (my local one) is on the list, it's either named O Samach or Chorm on the Cambodian side, I'll need to confirm which it is.

That's a 3 month Cambodian visa for $25, and freebie 14 days exempts on the Thai side. Half a tank of gas in the CBR every 2 weeks and a short 130k round trip.

Sweet :o

Alternatively, if the long-term visa doesn't work out then you could get e-visas which don't use up space in your PP

Obviously you need to be near one of the crossings that accept them :o

Well The Idea you provided is great. I am a regular visitor there and I had the same problem. It is so disappointing to have a full page of passport lost every 14days..

Check the FAQ it states:

"Is the Visa valid for single entry or for multiple entries within the period of validity?

It is valid for single entry only. "

So this means $25 per crossing. Just change your calculations - but maybe still worth while.

It is still worthwhile, currently a Cambodian visa on arrical is about 1300 baht I think, so $25 is still cheaper. I think I'll look into a long term visa though, that might be the better option.

I did all the calculations a while back, and it was actually cheaper to keep doing the 14 day runs, paying about 1800 baht a trip, than it was to go to Laos twice a year for a double entry tourist, or pop back to the UK for a non-immigrant. The only downside was the full passport page every 2 weeks.
