sabaijai
A friend asked about doing his visa run at the Golden Triangle casino island crossing. Does Burmese immigration still operate there? I remember when Tachileik was closed, they moved Burmese immigration to the island, but my friend insists that even after Tachileik re-opened, you could do casino island runs. uncletom
Yes it is open. I went there a few months ago and they even didn't ask for showing the funds, but since then I have a friend who has went and now it has the same policy as Mae Sai. Show the money... As for runs it is one of the best. Beatiful , nice little boat ride and easy to do, plus immigration is pretty nice. The only catch I can see is that it takes a little bit more time to get there than going to Mae Sai ( maybe 20 -30 min more or less ) "but it is a quality run " . I give it a thumbs up!!!!
sabaijai
Thanks, uncletom. The rumour was that it had closed only recently. Anyone tried this crossing in, say, the last couple of weeks?
Ajarn
Thanks, uncletom. The rumour was that it had closed only recently. Anyone tried this crossing in, say, the last couple of weeks? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is this the spot? I have no idea. If so, it was closed, but with posted guard last week. The sign says, 'second friendship bridge across the Mai Sai river'... I just bumped into it while cruising the area near Mai Sai along the river... Definitely it was closed last month for awhile, just wondering what the case is now. I wouldn't think bridge construction would mean closing the crossing, as the punters still have to get to the island to gamble at the casino.
