There are many hotels in the centre of KK, it also has a university. I have stayed at the Sofitel Hotel, marvellous place, about 1500 - 2000 bht per night off peak, although they do deals, last time breakfast was included in the price. Rooms have internet access, plus luxuries... Just outside, you have.... 'Eric's Bar', quite a few ex-pats enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, also there are many bars/ restaurants located nearby.
