Hi I am a brittish national living here in thailand with my (thai) wife and child.

My child was born here in thailand.

My question is:

Would it ever be possible for my child to get a british Identity?

If so what is the process and where can I find the relevant info?

thanks very much.

The child is yours I assume? It is possible, are you legally married in Thailand and the U.K? If so you take your marriage cert and birth cert with relevant documents to the British Embassy and apply for birth registration in the U.K etc and then passport. Under birth right of you being a british citizen. Were you married when the child was born?

Many questions to this one as not enough info, sure one of the big guns will advise you better and give relevant links.

As long as you are named on the Birth Cerificate your child is British.

Register the birth at the British Embassy and for a fee, I forget how much, you will get your Child a British Biirth Certificate and Passport.

You will need a certified translation of the Thai Birth Certificate which you should be able to get at the hospital where the child was born.

No need to register your marriage in the UK.

It is a very easy process. Chok Dee... :o
