Has anyone received their UBC bill for this month?

Mine along with a couple of neighbours came today and not one of us can understand what the hel_l is going on after receiving a piece of pink paper in an envelope with no accompanying letter of explanation.

Instead of the usual A4 size bill with a breakdown and payment date we got a pink slip dated ‘April’ with no bar code and no payment due date.

My Thai neighbour rang UBC in Bangkok to see if they can shed some light on whether this is a new type of bill or not, when it's due and can we pay it at any 7/11 as normal but after she put the phone down she was non the wiser.

Any ideas on what the fcks going on?

I got my bill today

its the same format as last months

I got the pink slip AND (a couple of days later) the normal bill. No idea what the pink slip is for tho. I'll ask when I go to pay the bill in a couple of weeks.

I got 2 of the pink slips and also my regular bill a few days later. It looks like the pink slips are some kind of receipt.

Correct. Mine showed the bill was payed through Bangkok Bank (I use I-banking to pay).

I got one too. Went to Truevisions office the next day and they said it was a tax invoice.

Just checked - it says "Tax Invoice" in the top right corner. :)

So I guess it's a tax invoice. :D

Just like they said it was. :D

:D

PS. Anyone got their Magazine this month? I haven't :D

PP. Went to a satellite shop today. 15,900 install, 6,000/year. Still checking channels...

My long-haired translator said its a tax invoice (aka receipt). :) Ok, so why am I getting one now and never before? I think I will go back to sleep.

Yes, first time I've had one in 6 years :D . Night-night, don't let the bed bugs bite.

I’ve had UBC for eleven years and it’s the first ‘tax invoice’ I’ve ever received.

Has Thailand decided to start moving foreword I wonder?

That said thanks for clarification.

It just shows the value if TV in that we can have our queries answered when all else fails.

Is this an alternative to TrueVisions? I'm heartily sick of them, especially now they're getting rid of BBC Entertainment. I'd seriously consider any alternative service.

Received our bill on the same date it was due to be paid.

UBC - don't subscribe to their massively overpriced (for what they provife) service - you only encourage them....

i got the pink bill also and it is a receipt for the 3000 bath deposit i paid for the disc and receiver so when i return them and show the receipt you will get your deposit back

I would definitely be interested in seeing what channels this covers.

It's called "Multichoice Satellite TV" and the guy mentioned that it came from Africa.

Just found it in Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multichoice with a link to its web site.

I was told:

15,900 Bt installation + year 1 subscription

6,000 Bt subsequent years' subscription.

Channels:

Sport - Supersport 1 to 8 (5 soccer channels + snooker, boxing, motorsport, golf, tennis) + ESPN Africa

News - 11 channels inc. Sky News, BBC World, CNN

Learning - 13 channels inc. BBC Prime (?), BBC Food (?)

Movies - 6 channels

No mention of BBC Entertainment. :)

I've got a few other useful (?) links bookmarked:

Sat Thai

Anybody have a phone number for this place?

Multichoice is probably better known as DSTV, the primary satellite TV provider in Africa. It was the only show in town when I worked in Angola/Nigeria. If you watch cable in Phuket, quite a lot of their channels come from DSTV, but usually only the less than popular ones. On the sports side, apart from extensive English premier league football coverage, they also cover a lot of (particularly Southern Hemisphere) rugby and cricket. Film channels tend to show newer movies, and BBC Prime (in my opinion) is better than BBC Entertainment.

UBC :):D

Please tell me who quoted you 6,000. A year ago I was quoted 54,000 Baht for 1 years subscription for Multichoice so this would be an excellent price

My wife has just received a quote from SatThai for a Mulichoice-1 year subscription

A massive 58,000 Baht.

She was told it is possible to receive the signal via the internet for 300 Baht a month.

I did this a couple of years ago and was not impressed as I would lose the signal for an

hour or so every day and once it went for 3 days.

We got one too. Told by True its a receipt for the previous month which is crazy because we get a receipt when we pay at 7/11 or Tesco. Seems like and overkill and waste of trees

:D No - the tax invoice. :) !

Come to think of it, the g/f has long hair and translates... :D

If you read the previous posts you'd know exactly what it is. :)

'Sparkles' seems to be a bit of a misnomer.
