Hi All,

Here is a link to to an article that I think just about sums up the situation with Mr T. I hope that i am allowed to post the link Mods as i found it to be very interesting. What do the red shirts think about this guy at this moment in time? He denies any involvement and is travelling on a non Thai passport, whilst living a life way beyond the expectations of any of his followers.

Bangkok Post article.

But where he urged you to rise up, he chose to run away. Where he asked you to stand up, he sat down at a comfortable place thousands of miles away. Where he begged you to bring your families and children, he evacuated his own out of harm's way.

Now, according to his email statement circulated by his former lawyer Noppadon Pattama, Thaksin Shinawatra denies being the driving force behind you, the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD). He denies he's your leader, the leader of the red-shirt protesters. He said he shares your sentiments, but denies involvement with your protest.

Thaksin's email said: "Truth has been distorted and I am blamed by the old political clique that I lead the protest to create chaos in the society."

But Thaksin said in a phone-in to a UDD rally, which was reported on March 29, 2009: "If police use force against us here, red-clad groups in each province would surround provincial halls."

Now Thaksin's latest email says: "I am accused of leading those demanding democracy for the benefit of myself and my family."

Thaksin during a phone-in at a UDD rally, which was reported in the media on Jan 26, 2009: "Someone has asked why I don't stop. The reason is I want justice for myself and my family."

He's going to rot in hel_l for sure. How any sane person could still believe anything this piece of scum says is really beyond my comprehension.

True, I found it very intersting to look at the picture that accompanied the article. It showed a guy in a red shirt carrying a banner, saying 'Mr Thaksin where are you'. I think that a lot of red shirts must be asking the same question.

I think that the chances of that are very slim. He is travelling on a Nicuraguan diplomatic passport and we all know what they are worth, so he has certainly moved up in the world. He is making his self look a complete tosser, by associating with countries at the bottom of the lake. Pretty soon he won't be allowed to travel to places where he wants to impress the big boys and will be totally stuck in the bargain basement. Som nam na!

The chances of Mr T getting a royal pardon? - not a chance in hel_l.

Yellow armbands on the troops the night Thaksin was thrown out, conveyed with no doubt at all, just how high up the decision was approved - not even the Military challenge that authroity.

But I will always stand by the fact that he was the democratically elected leader of Thailand who was ousted illegally, according to democratic principles, by a military coup. For that, he deserves justice.

Many powerful cliques attack him with barrages of accusations and insults; some are justified, while others are pure hogwash. I would argue he was the most capable prime minister Thailand has ever had (the jury is still out on the present one, Abhisit Vejjajiva, after only four months on the job). One cannot deny he is perhaps the first Thai political leader in recent memory to actually mind the poor, the mass - an act that should be commended.

For all his virtues and flaws, he's a man that will live on in the history of Thailand for a long time to come - some will idolise, some will vilify him, while perhaps one or two will assess him fairly. He could have gone down as the greatest leader of modern Thailand, but alas, many would say his greed and ego got the better of him.

At least there are some honest statements here. :)
