Please Help!! I desperately need to be fit!!! I have tried many diets and exercises, but to no avail. I manage to lose a few pounds initially whenever I start something new, but I am back to square one again! I am completely exasperated and feel depressed. I do not know what to do. I will go to any extent to get a fit body.

Okay Jeffery. First thing, don't panic. The worry makes you eat more.

Second thing, what's your BMI (Body Mass Index)?

Third thing, have you been checked for diabetes?

Fourth thing, do you have hobbies which are active?

BMI yeah right a 100 hundred year old chart that hardly applies to modern body sizes

Don't read too much into this unless you are in the 30-40s and you already know that you carry excess fat on your body.

Change your diet to more fruit / nuts / water / white meat / vodka no beer

go and exercise for 30 minutes each day . ie walking /cycling / at a gym / swimming / play sports

its not rocket science and if you do the above you will feel better - guaranteed...

are you in Thailand?

Drink loads of water and ride a bike. Make sure you're getting salts in your body as just water is not enough in this climate - you'll eventually become fatigued and lethargic without them. Dechamp is good :)

Still allow yourself some goodies from time to time. This is so you dont get bored of eating healthy everyday. 4 times a week of exercise is enough.

lol BMI.

2 different hospitals told me my BMI at some point, i immediately left the building before they start charging me.

If someone mentions BMI, he has no idea how anything related to the body works.

This topic is depressing, what kind of monkey doesnt know that doing weights and cardio gets you fit?

BMI following a visit to a doctor and he took my BMI by calculating the necessities he then said to me in a very doctorish voice and look "you are obese"

<deleted> doctor i'm standing in front of you do i look obese

him - erh no but you should exercise and eat healty....

me - yeah whatever (i exercise most mornings weights / play badminton in the evenings and like to eat lots of fruit and healthy food)

i went back to work and had a good laugh about it and we tested everyones BMI at work from an line source

3 people were clinically obese (a little pudgy around belly) and 1 person was undernourished (he is 58 and tiny little chappie and has always been this weight)

BMI is outdated and over used IMHO.

you know if you are carrying excess fat - jeeze man it wobbles...check the mirror

The hard part is finding good food in Thailand. Especially if your eating out a lot your likely to get a lot of sugar and palm oil in your food. You might start cooking some things yourself and eat a bit more healthy.

You cant loose weight without some sort of dieet, and it is even better if you combine it with sports.

Righty oh then,

No, I'm not a Doctor and know only this. They measured my BMI at 46 which is 'bloater'. But I am a recovering diabetic that has lost over 50 kgs since last October. Down from 160 kgs.

Type II diabetes is common and can be attributed to weight and vice versa.

There were mostly only insulting, presumptive posts left on this thread, which reflects upon you the posters. Rather than really trying to help the poor guy.

I sent him a message because I felt this thread was lost. But I don't think he can reply because he's only done one post.

So Jeffery, if you have any of/all of these symptoms,

Symptoms of diabetes can include:

  • feeling thirsty all the time,
  • frequent urination,
  • tiredness,
  • weight loss,
  • muscle wasting,
  • frequent infections or slow-healing sores,
  • itchiness around the vagina or penis,
  • regular episodes of thrush, and
  • blurred vision.

Well get checked for it anyway.

You blood glucose level should be 5 to 8 mmol/L, mine were running in the mid to late 20's!

Suggest you improve your mental strength first, most people give up on everything.

Brisk walking is probably the best exercise u can get its also very very cheap, forget gyms and running it will only bugger up your joints esp in the knees.

Apparently you don't:

<deleted>?

I got a plan for you bro; drink 2 tablespoons of Baking soda in 2 glasses of water; but make sure you don't have a sodium problem first...... That'll clean your guts out and you'll be on the toilet for the rest of the day.... call it a detox, and dehydration if you don't keep up the water!

Next, cut out all carbs; meat my friend! Tons of meat! Meat for two weeks! This'll kick in the key tonic stage! If it's sugar, bread, milk, potatoes, cut'm out! No coffee with sugar..... all sugar OUT!

Then, intro some salad and green veges into your diet, and research on low carb diets..... go from there!

Drink PLENTY of water~!
