This post could probably be placed in the general computer forum, but I doubt many people will find it interesting. The ones that might be able to answer it will read this forum anyway :)

Here is the problem.

When I configure my CAT Hi-Net connection to use OpenDNS several websites will not load at all. Let me list a few sites:

- facebook.com

- nytimes.com

- washingtonpost.com

- soccernet.com

and many many more.

When switching to CAT's own DNS service these sites open just fine, or if I use my remote proxy (in Denmark).

With exactly the same setup using MaxNet Premier it all work fine all the above sites load correctly.

I suspect this could be related to Google product like Google ads that are linked to on these sites. Google itself or Gmail does not have any problems loading.

Then you might say, well why don't you just use CAT's DNS then? Well the point is that running on a MultiWAN router you will be better off using a shared DNS for both ISP's like OpenDNS.

I tried to call CAT and all they could tell me was that everything was working... /ponder

Any suggestions are really appreciated, since this is driving me nuts. :D

If you go to the advanced section during the set up of your connection you can add more dns addy and they get used in order you list them.   They should resolve the addys the same, but if one can't find it the other or next should.  I use open dns then tot plus one in au and one in jp.

From your list it seems odd that they won't work from open dns.   :)     I just checked and they open right up via ToT.

I have now been testing this extensively and it has been verified from other people here in Chiangmai that certain services resolve correctly with OpenDNS (nslookup or semilar), but for some reason not work properly. After switching to CAT's own DNS everything works as expected again.

Now my question. What can cause this and how do I go about explaining this to CAT?
