What's That Special Food That Keeps You Happy

Well since Jockstar has had a drink and reinevented his old thread, I thought I would start a bit of a crap one too.

For years I missed Hot Dogs out here, everytime someone came over I told them, "bring me tins and tins of hotdogs", coz I could never find decent ones here, and if anyone suggests 7/11 hotdogs as decent then I will personally try to have them banned from this forum :o

One day, lo and behold in Juscos of all places, I found TULIP hotdogs, a Danish import, at 102 baht a tin, and just as good as my classic faves, ye olde oaks, and that day, was the day Bangkok became a better place to live.

My night out tonight is a night in, a few beers, talking crap on thaivisa, and a tin of hotdogs on the side, sad isn't it.

So whats the one food you have found out here that made Thailand a better place for you? One thing you thought you would never find?

TULIP make vienna sausages as well, hotdogs in a can, simmer for 5 mins and slap them in a baguette, and being a purist, no sauce.

Yep, your right Ravisher, tons of crap in them, but they are tasty and it's a treat for me, because usually I don't eat junk food, I cook myself from all fresh ingredients.

It's just one of those things I get when I have had a few drinks that are easy to cook and go down a treat.

And talking of going down a treat.... oops, that might get this topic closed.

I asked a thai girl who recently just visited the UK to bring me over some Galaxy bars and Flakes, and she brought me Cadburys Dairy Milk instead which I can get over the carrefours anyway, but I'm sure the UK version tasted better. Maybe just my imagination.

What I really miss is Ginsters Cornish Pastys, those Big John Pastys in villa are crap, but his pies are ok.

Ginsters certainly fill you up ,however they are loaded with hydrogenated vegatable oil

thats the industrial gunk that clogs up your arteries.

lot of bad press about HVO lately ,its in lots of foodstuffs , the EU is planning to put a ban on its use at some time .

Hmmmm, Big C's "E-Sarn" (their spelling, not mine) pork sausages. Absolutely delicious! You get about 25 round sausages in a pack tied together with string. Just pop them under the grill until black/dark brown, eat with slices of green chilli, ginger, cucumber and tomato, and wash down with a few cans of beer Singha (or more if the chilli's good :o ).

You can also get them on the street - 1 baht each, but they are often 80% rice and are nowhere near as good as the "E-Sarn" ones.
