On Thursday we are flying back to Thailand to visit the in-laws. My daughter is 19 months old and eats a jar of baby food ever day, as well as formula and some of our food. My wife doesn't think anywhere will sell jars of baby food in Thailand, so she's set her mind on taking over a shedload of jars. I've pointed out to her that there may be luggage weight issues as well as possible security problems with 20 odd jars of baby food, but as she is a Thai with 1 international flight under her belt and I'm a westerner who has only flown all over the world 30 - 40 times, so she obviously outranks me in the travelling stakes. :) Do any shops in Thailand stock jars of baby food? Any advice on whether we'd be ok to bring a load of jars over and the best way to do it? Anyone else agree with my concerns over the weight and security issues with a load of jars in our luggage.

Heinz is widely available at least in Bangkok supermarkets. Carrefour has limited selection, maybe two different taste but department stores like Central and Emporium have more. All still Heinz that i've seen so let's hope your kid will like it. I would not carry jars in plane. I mean the weight and all the trouble... Also Cerelac is available...

I found the choice of jars to be limited at best where they are available but tbh at 19 months your child should be ok to forgo the jars & just eat the same as you.

Some suggestions; Rice, both boiled & sticky, omlettes or scrambled eggs, tom kha soup, fresh fried or steamed fish, cereal or toast for breakfast, mashed potatoes or french fries, sandwiches with jam or ham, cheese cubes, BBQ/grilled chicken, rice soup, MK/Korean BBQ, the choice for her age group is massive, at 10 months my son was eating all of this as I had the same problem, lug a bunch of jars to LOS or just adapt our food to his age group. It was the best thing I did as he is now just turned 2 & will eat anything & everything & has not had a jar since he was a year old.

I took a few jars (was plastic pots & squeeze tubes actually as we used ellas kitchen & Plum ranges, really fab for travel as lighter than jars & travel well) for emergencies & also for on the plane but it was a max of 10 & I brought 3 back with me.

One thing I did take was the sugar free rusks, small rice cakes & boots brand kids snack crisps as the snacks in Thailand are so loaded with sugar that I didn't fancy letting him have them.
