I've got a fairly fast internet connection at home, but if someone calls me on the phone the ADSL connection drops out. I'm using an ADSL splitter, but it doesn't seem to help. In my previous house, I also experienced this problem (with a different splitter). In that case I solved the problem by ripping the phone out of the wall and just using my mobile.

Any idea what the problem is? I thought the whole idea of a splitter was that you could use both your phone and the ADSL at the same time. But it doesn't seem to work for me (I've got 4 of them!).

I have a splitter with 3 telephones hanging on it. No problems. Did you try a different phone and not only a different splitter? You write you have 4 of them - phones hanging on the splitter?

Is your phone on the output of the splitter? If you have more than one phone they must all be on splitters (or run a line from a splitter to all of them).

Try Keith Michal's website in Texas (google "phone man dsl"--tried inserting link via the insert link button, but always gets blocked with "error" cannot post url, although I'm only posting the link??). I had the same problem, 4 phones, adsl, backup dial-up, and fax, and none worked properly with the TTT supplied "splitters", which are really only filters, good for only a couple phones. The site explains the problem and the solution. Need proper splitter (not available in Thailand, at least not in Khon Kaen or from TTT) at the point of entry into the house of the phone company wires. Got a Wilcom PS-36 splitter and installed a dedicated CAT 5E cable to the modem, thus separating the dsl and house phone wiring system at source. Threw away the old filters and all problems solved 100%. Also noticed the sorry TTT station protector on the pole downline and installed beside the splitter as backup a proper lightning protector with ground rod. A bit of a project and learning curve (Keith was good enough to answer all my questions and walk me through the steps) but fixed the problem for less than a hundred bucks. Good luck!!

Ok you were right, it was my el cheapo 200 baht phone that was the problem. Now have a more expensive model and things are working fine. It seems that I'm now the proud owner of a 200 baht internet communications disruption device, cleverly disguised a telephone. I'll keep it for my Mission Impossible corporate infiltration work.
