Steve Bruce is favourite followed by Gordon Strachan and Alan Curbishly. After the buyout of the club by the HUMUNGOUSLY wealthy Ellis Short, any new manager could expect to be backed big time in the transfer market. Steve Bruce has done a great job with Wigan and it must be frustrating for him to watch his best players being taken time and time again. Not going to happen, but that's the kind of manager you need to take an 'average' side up the league. Hodgson has worked wonders at Fulham too, especially considering his disappointing spell with Blackburn in the past. Alot of people would like to see what he could do at a much bigger club with bigger finances. I don't know what him being a Castle fan has to do with anything. No one knows what "The Geordie Messiah " is going to do, but he'd probably be better off on TV, which really isn't saying much. As for would Bruce go to Sunderland? If the reported Transfer Kitty is correct, getting a Manager in who isn't used to one such as Bruce, Strachan is dangerous as they tend to be like Kids in a Candy Shop.. Like Curbishley for us, of course he made some decent Signings, but he also bought Boa Morte for 5m, Dyer for 6m, Faubert for 6m, Davenport for 4m & Nigel Quashie for 2.5m..
