my non B visa expires on May 29th.

I have a multi re entry permit.

I plan to apply for a tourist visa in Vientiane, two days before my visa expiration, on wednesday the 27th.

I'm assuming that my current visa will automatically be cancelled upon applying for a new visa.

Should I inform imimigration about my plans before i leave and request that they cancel my current visa a few days early?

Do you have a visa or an extension of stay?

You don't have to cancel a visa.

If it is a multiple entry visa you could use it again for an entry.

Can only think that you have an extension of stay not a Non Imm B Visa or you would not have a Re Entry Permit.

Your current stay will expire when you leave.
