Bit Clueless About Extending 15 Day Permit - Help!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I entered Thailand by land from Malaysia and so only got 15 days in the country, so I have to be out by the 3rd June. I want to get this extended by a week-ish/10 days so that I can go to the full moon party and do the islands before heading to Cambodia etc. I fly home at the very end of June from Bangkok so would be coming back in, but I assume I'll get another 15/30 days when I cross the border so that won't be a problem (?).

I'm currently in Chiang Mai...would it be better to go to an immigration office and pay 2000Bish to get an extension (and do i need proof of onward travel for this - I only have my flight home!) or is there a relatively stress-free border run I can do from here? I'm a bit pushed for time but would massively appreciate a response from anyone a bit more in the know that I am.

Thanks,

Cx

I don't think that you are likely to get an extension, if you did it wouldn't be any longer than 7 days probably. I would plan on another border run for another 15 days.

Maximum 7 days from Immigration if you have a ticket leaving within those 7 days. 1,900 Baht.

Looks like a border run.

Do a border run to Mai Sai and get another 15 days. Easy run from Chiang Mai. It will be 500 baht to cross ino Burma and then turn around and come back.

Thanks guys, thought that might be the case. Am going to do the Mai Sai-Myanmar border run in a few days. Managed to get a dirt cheap flight from Chiang Rai back to Bangkok as well so should work quite nicely!
