May 28, 200917 yr Hi all, I have just been issued a non "0" dependency visa. Could somebody please be kind enough as to enlighten me with regards to the legality of working and obtaining a work permit on this visa. Thank you kindly
May 28, 200917 yr It is exacly the same as if you had a B visa. It's a non immigrant visa and that is all that is required to get a work permit and work. You can even get an extension of stay based upon employemnt if you wanted to.

We've had a couple of teachers refused a work permit in Phuket because they were on a none O visa. They were told they had to go out of the country and get a none B visa. Best thing to do is ask at your local immigration office.
May 29, 200917 yr Immigration has nothing to do with work permits so there is no need to ask them. I suspect the problem was the school not knowing how to process the O visa and not wanting to ask.
May 29, 200917 yr If somebody questions getting a work permt with a non-o visa show them the visa stamp/sticker that states that it is a non immigrant visa. And then show them a copy of the work permit requirements from the Department of Employment (aka labor department). Copies in Thai and English here. Work_permit_requirements.pdf
