But what happens to the young woman?

Not good things according to this survey. Perhaps we should change the topic of this title to "Younger women married to older men decrease their life expectancy"?

Wives with husbands older or younger by between seven and nine years increase their chances of dying early by 20 per cent.

This rises to 30 per cent if the age difference is close to 15 and 17 years.

The reason probably lies in the fact that men who marry much younger women try to keep themselves fit and are more active physically and mentally.

It is similar to the results that women who get newly divorced quickly join the spa to get back in shape.

agree

i had a GFE with a nice isaan woman over a cuppla years. highly energising, could keep going all nite as well like i last did at 25. i helped her financially sometimes within my means thus taking care not to bankrupt myself, so i have no sob stories to offer there. met the family as well and all. but broke it off without any acrimony in the end, when it became clear that i was nowhere near as high up her list of priorities as she was up mine. it's fair enough, i wasn't angry or anything, but i don't think that kind of imbalance is healthy or enjoyable in the long term - something i read about often on this forum. when i do finally settle in los, i can imagine getting together with a younger woman - but not until i've mastered thai though :)

Not sure if this applies to Thai / Farang reationships - where there often seem to be more problems than benefits .

From The Telegraph - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/men_shea...nger-woman.html

A man's chances of dying early are cut by a fifth if their bride is between 15 and 17 years their junior.

The risk of premature death is reduced by 11 per cent if they marry a woman seven to nine years younger.

The study at Germany's Max Planck Institute also found that men marrying older women are more likely to die early.

The results suggest that women do not experience the same benefits of marrying a toy boy or a sugar daddy.

Wives with husbands older or younger by between seven and nine years increase their chances of dying early by 20 per cent.

This rises to 30 per cent if the age difference is close to 15 and 17 years.

Scientists say the figures for men may be the result of natural selection – that only the healthiest, most successful older men are able to attract younger mates.

"Another theory is that a younger woman will care for a man better and therefore he will live longer," said institute spokesman Sven Drefahl.

The study examined deaths between 1990 and 2005 for the entire population of Denmark.

On average in Europe, most men marry women around three years younger.

Really? Thank god!

.Haha ..be careful of (much) younger women!

Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business. When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a wife with which to share his fortune. One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away.

"I may look like just an ordinary man," he said to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die, and I'll inherit 20 million dollars."

Impressed, the woman obtained his business card and three days later, she became his stepmother.

Is that from natural causes, or from being thrown out the window?

I had a long term relationship with a woman who was 3 years younger....

Three years younger than my son, that is. :)

Fortunately, I outlived her frequent spending habits. :D

it is the wife's life expectancy they are discussing here, not the husband's if that is the point you are trying to make.

I think it definately comes down to the fact that in Europe where the study was probably

carried out, wealthier men can attract younger women. We all know why.

Wealthier men can afford a better standard of living, healthcare etc...

Therefore live longer. The age of the wife has nothing to do with it, but that's my

opinion. :)

The study was done in Denmark. All deaths married or single, wealthy or poor were taken into account to obtain their stats.

Try it!!!........................naaaaaah

Well u know.....the men here might want it to move to the joke forum…..because they can’t handle the truth!…haha

And there are some other aspects of it also.....that well…

Generally "they think", younger woman is easier to control, and mold into what they want…..so alot of it is male egotistical pride, I think.

Also some like the good feeling that they are needed/wanted by someone, eventho they know that it is mostly for financial gain.

and

one day their "very young" wife will want to do what "young people" like to do, and “many” might go after younger guys for their libido, while with you for security.

Well what can you say… with the older man, “eventually” when her husband is well beyond the age, and all she hears about is how tired he is, all his aches and pains of getting older, or/and can‘t keep up with their sex drive …….then she is either like …started being really selfish in the bedroom too…or doing the famous “WamBam thank u ma'am” type stuff!

Well for the men, if you can put up with those above, or lurking around her shadow constantly to see if she’s cheating on you or not, then long life and happiness to you.

There are those in the exception, of course

No offense to anyone, just doing the critical debate here. :)

You womens are tough.

I'm confused. The topic is about men living longer if they marry a young woman. Now you're making it into the opposite. I did read an article about a foreigner throwing his younger wife out the window.

There's such things as "good" aches and pains. All I do is complain.

Who, in their right mind, would marry a women 20 years younger than them? I actually know a few. They like to tell you how much they know, and then they're sent home, by themselves, with their tails between their legs by their significant(ly) younger other.

Re-read the article, its not entirely about older men marrying younger women. Perhaps you read only the part that interested you.

Good point SBK, but then again, why would I read something that doesn't interest me? :)
