We're coming out to Thailand in August and are staying in Bangkok but we would like to go for a week long break to a nice beach area.

This will be around the 3rd and 4th week in August which I understand if monsoon season.

Will everywhere be shut or will it be service as usual for tourists?

Anyone recommend a nice place to go? We just want nice beaches and nice food.

Thanks

Wet or not, the beaches and resorts don't close here. Check out the Phuket and Samui forums for weather at particular times of the year.

as said before, dont worry about the rain, it cleans the air so any and all of the beach resorts will be possible so i guess it depends on who "we" are and your profile etc what type of hotel / beach and just how in your face you want the resort to be. also to consider is how far from bangkok you want to go so suggest have a look at some of the internet pages etc

We is me and my girlfriend. We are both from England and in mid-late 20s.

Something not very in your face at all would be good. Low-budget too.

Koh Samet Island is nice, fairly low key and reasonably low budget http://www.koh-samet.org/koh-samet-resort.htm There are also lots of mainland beaches in the area too.

If your looking for night life, it's not far from Pattaya either.
