I am always amazed (and probably amused) when people really complain about Thailand, however, considering the fact:

1. Visa rules in your home country are much stricter than Thailand (including my home country)

2. People are not really so friendly back home

3. Ever tried to live in any other country in this region?

I am in no way disillusioned by anything in Thailand, but I do appreciate:

1. Easy-going lifestyle in Thailand

2. Reasonable prices as compare to some other countries in this region

3. My time in Thailand

Though, I, at the same time, recognize:

1. the annoyance of living in Thailand

2. the day-to-day stupidity (trust me other countries in this region could be worse)

3. that Thailand is not a place to make a truckload (ok, a bike-load) of money

Currently, I am in Vietnam, and I m glad that I m making some nice money here, which I could otherwise not make in Thailand. Thanks to farang administration.

BUT, and thats a BIG BUT that I love Thailand... and I equally love Vietnam for giving me BIG and REAL bucks

Peace be upon all humanity and every nation...... :)

It's not amazing that people complain about Thailand. People like to complain about everywhere and everything. They just don't like to hear other people knock THEIR choices. The problem lies with the fact that nowhere is perfect and most of us can see the obvious problems wherever we live, but have no power to change them. Rudyard Kipling wrote a great poem called "If". People should read it once in a while and try to follow just a few of the messages. The world would be a better place. It's the glass half full or half empty story. I can see the bright side in just about everything and CHOOSE to live my life that way.

Canada is a well off country with a multi-cultural society that sort of works in harmony, but I can see hundreds of problems that are perpetrated by mistakes in leadership and bureaucracy. I have no power to change them so I just do the best I can. I see many advantages that Canada offers, but Thailand can provide things for me personally that Canada can't, so I choose to live in both countries half the time.
